So, I know there are some cars that you can't change the livery (only one I've found so far is the Mercedes F1 car) and I know that there are variations as to what can be changed with paint / decals.
I bought the Mercedes VGT racing edition (a cool million) because I like the looks of it and it is different to the standard VGT version (racing version has a rear wing). There are plenty of colour choices and I didn't think too much about it - after all, it can all be changed in the Livery Editor - except with this car, that's not quite correct.
The wheels have a highlight colour at the edges, and the body panels have a trim at the bottom - and you can't change them with paint or decals. This kind of limits options when you make a new livery..... the car I bought was black with turquoise trim. And I couldn't change the trim..... so that sort of limits the paint jobs you can do!
Am now mulling spending yet another million to get a version with black or white trim to increase options...... pah, it's only credits!

Any other cars you know about which can be troublesome?

I know the rear splitter on the Renault Clios can't be decal'd but you can paint it when painting the "Other" Section. So if you want that a certain color you have to paint it and use decals for the other areas if you want them another color. Just a little annoyance

The various SRT Tomahawk have colours under their wings/active aero plates, which depend on the base colour you bought and can’t be painted after.

Note that it will also impact the people which download your liveries. Say that you buy the « good » colour to avoid the turquoise trim. If the guy who download your livery bought the car in black and turquoise trim, it will feature the turquoise even if the preview thumbnail shows it with your version.

This is also the case for every car where the interior trim depends on the exterior colour but won’t change once you re-paint the car.

I’ve experienced these issues when I needed to take pictures of the LEC cars but have it in a different colour than the original creator.

The Porsche 911 GT3RS ('16) has rear wing uprights that can be either black or polished aluminium depending on the original colour chosen at purchase. They cannot be changed in the Livery Editor. Black is way easier to integrate than silver, for the record.
Never knew that, interesting

Never knew that, interesting

I only discovered it today when I won a white one on the wheel of doom today and I immediately noticed the black anodized uprights to the rear wing. The silvery uprights on the first one I won are beautuful up close but so difficult to integrate into a coherent design.

So if I use a livery I added to collection from someone that used the black uprights and mine has silver uprights, which will I get?

So, being awash with cash and having only cheap cars to buy in the recent update, I bought the Mercedes VGT Racing version - again.

This time I chose the orange one with all-black wheels (the other possible option was the red one with black / white trim wheels).
Am pleased to say this particular model the black trim blends in so well you don't notice it.... painting the wheel chrome makes the whole wheel look chrome.

And noticed something odd - when you open livery editor, if you choose to open an existing design, all variations from either car show up. BUT it depends on which car you open on which trim you get. For example, if I changed livery of the one with black wheels, that livery shows up even if I open the turquoise trim car - but now the black wheel version has turquoise trim. Not explained well but I hope you get my drift!!

The headlight trim on the '78 Trans Am turns gold, when you paint the car, and if I remember correct, even if you just go straight to the decal section.. I bought two of these cars after that update, trying to keep the gray trim, but no matter what I did, it turned gold in the LE.
