The comment section is closed on the GTPedia announcement post on the main page, so I had to post this here in the forum.

I'm keen on buying this masterpiece, but before entering my PayPal info, I would like to know a bit more about the product, especially when it comes to updates.

- Is there any chance that you will add Tourist Trophy to a GTPedia update?

- I know images won't make it into the GTPedia, due to copyright issues, but for the tracks, any chance that outlines of the track can be included? Like on this webpage: http://strategywiki.org/wiki/Gran_Turismo_5/Circuits
After all, I don't think an outline like that can't be copyrighted by Polyphony, at least not the real world tracks.

- What's the size of the pages? A4? A5? Letter?
I'm thinking about updates to the GTPedia if I buy the physical book, if I may be able to add prints of the updates into the book.

- What about the electronic version, is the pdf locked in any way, or will it be possible with the proper software to merge new pages into the document, and edit the existing text if corrections are made?
Or is the update perhaps a new version of the complete book for us to download?

- In the future, with GT6, GT7 etc. will it be possible to buy a volume (physical book) that consists of just the GT6 part? I mean, the small updates and corrections made to the existing product is one thing, but replacing the existing book with a new one with one more game added seems a bit unnecessary, and not environmental friendly either....

Thanks a lot in advance!

Thank you so much for considering the book. 👍

No, only Gran Turismo games are covered.

Yes, such an appendix was removed from the book at the last minute on the advice of our legal counsel. I do plan on releasing it as a stand-alone file for free in the near future.

The paper size is 6 x 9 in.

The updates won't be merged into the text of the current book edition; instead they are available as a separate PDF, organized by game and section. The PDF is unencrypted, but cannot be edited or merged with other documents.

Unfortunately, it is still too early for me to speculate exactly what, if, or how any aspects of a second edition of the book would be available or distributed.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

For GT6 onwards, what are you going to do? Release seperate books for each?, wait until GT(X) and release another book?, Release separate PDFs per-GT?

Thanks Jordan.

Thanks for the quick reply! Even if not all the answers were what I hoped for (Tourist Trophy, and a bit odd paper size for Europeans in case I want to print the updates) I was pleased to see that you consider a stand-alone file with the track outlines.

I also understand that you haven't yet made any decisions on the update regarding GT6 and onwards, you can have the idea about separate volumes for free. ;)

Now I have an order to place! :)

Famine told me this in response to my question about future GTs :
GT6 (or any other game - a prologue, a concept or an epilogue) would require significant alteration to the book, probably inflating it by 20% in size for a full release, so there'd need to be a 2nd Edition. It'll also mean I'll have the least amount of fun playing a GT game than I've ever had before

A 2nd edition is fine, but that would mean a book with all the games from GT to GT6. It's both economical and environmental unecessary that all the customers of 1st edition (GT-GT5) buy a new book where 85% of the content is already covered in a book they own.

So my suggestion would be to either
- keep GTPedia as a book for GT-GT5, and release a separate book - vol 2 - for GT6. This means the original book must be produced in the future.
- release GTPedia 2nd edition for GT-GT6, AND release a vol 2 covering only GT6, for existing customers.

I think that's what he means by '2nd edition'. I.e. Not a book with GT1-6, but instead a whole new book.

Don't quote me though. :sly:
