A crappy issue with the File Depot

Guys:

I didn't have gold, but got many messages with unicorn cars and other gifts because I participated in some events (King of the track, etc.) (It would let me without gold...)

Today I paid for gold, since it is required to receive the gifts... And guess what?

The moment I went to the File Depot to claim my "gifts" (some unicorns there), kaboom... All the messages were not there, deleted, or something.

Any help on this? So did I just lose my gift cars?

Do the " New DLC Available" messages still show? If not it's probably server issues which have been going on the past few days.

Not insulting your intelligence but when you got gold did you upgrade on the same gamertag?

If you did, I'd say the servers were down or contact T10 via email (Good Luck).

This does seem odd if it is something beyond the servers being down. Hopefully you can figure this one out, sorry I could not offer more help.

Once the gift messages are gone, and it's not a "server is not available" issue, they are gone forever. T10 has this on their site/forums/something official, as I was looking it up last week when I deleted some sort of gift I wasn't paying attention to.

I'm pretty sure anything in your file depot has a shelf life, so if you don't download it then it will expire after 'x' amount of days. Problem is though what does 'x' equate to?

Have you tried FM.net to see if anyone over there knows?

You are right, they do expire, just found that the other day...

But some messages only were 2 days old!! And freaking T10 should let you know about the expiration term, or whatever

FM.net sucks, lots of questions, and T10 rarely answers something, they just let the rumors and misinformation grow and grow, unless it has something to do with money for them, you know it's their money all they care about..., in which case they clarify everything 👎

In this case I got gold out of receiving gift cars bait, and that ¡s what matters to them, not if I lost my gift cars or if we the gamers have clear information on expiration, or any other thing... 👎

This is probably related, the message center was totally down for me yesterday (or the day before, I forget) so messages like you have been given a gift car wouldn't be there, its up and running fine today though so try again if you still have gold.

And I thought PD had communication issues... Guess nobody is perfect as a company, unless it's their money what is on the line, that is.

I dont get how money came to this equation haha. Microsoft gets the money if you get gold, not T10.

I find MS behavior requiring a "gold" account is money grubbing to the extreme. Why should I have to buy an expensive add on I don't want simply to collect a prize I won in an on line race.

I'd gladly pay for an subscription if it means i get to play on good servers and a better online experience. I had more problems with the free PSN then i do with my Xbox Live. You get what you pay for i say.

I have to say, I did get quite annoyed by this as well. Nice it was when I first checked my file depot, to find that I got gifted a free car, and a nice looking one at that. Presented I was with the picture of a nice CCGT in a very nice livery. Yay, I thought, and clicked on receive. And then I get this nice downer, umm, sorry, you can't have this, you need a Gold membership to actually receive the car. 🤬 Believe me, the exact words I was thinking back then I am not permitted to post on this board, but if I can't actually receive the car, due to me not having Gold, is it really necessary to dangle that picture in front of me, and even allow me to click on receive, only to then throw a non-gold-membership error at me?

I'm glad this didn't happen to me, as I wouldn't be sure my Controller and/or Xbox would survive. Meanwhile, my gift car is still sitting in my file depot. Not sure how long it'll remain, but it can stay there until it disappears by itself. Not going to get a Gold membership only for it to disappear as I'm actually to receive it.

So, when are these good servers coming? FORZA servers are useless anytime dlc comes out, they become finnicky during peak usage times. So, where is my money going? The only time PSN went down for for maintenance or when they got hacked. What's MS excuse?
I'm clearly not getting my money's worth.

Ive never had problems with the servers on forza to be honest so dont know what to tell you. Every other game ive played online works fine, as well as my Forza. Yeah they go down for maintenance but who doesnt shut down when they do maintenance . Sad to see your having such a problem.

MS seems to have things alot better then PSN does really. A Month of downtime, and no information till about a week or two later? Even before that happened i was always getting disconnected from games like COD and GT5 all the time on my Playstation 3.

Just a quick thought, you said you clicked it and it told you that you had to have gold right? Maybe the fact that you clicked it and already read the message, it disappeared from your message box. If that seems to be it then thats pretty horrible on T10's part.

Don't think so, as I've done the same, and my gift is still in my inbox. Unless it disappears after a certain amount of time once it's been opened?

I did exactly that. T10 sucks.

My gifts disappeared 2 days after I "opened" them... Which is what took me to go get a live gold pre-paid card...

Dunno about that really, because as soon as i click my rewards they disappear instantly. I'll try it out when i get online, because i have a few gift cars in my reward zone.
