Hi Jerome,

Sorry for the delay
, real life & a bout with the Flu have had me out of commission for a bit. Still waiting to assemble my new PC but here's a list of what I have on hand:

Intel Core i7-4770 3.4 GHz LGA 1150
ASUS GeForce GTX 660
G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB Memory
2ea Hard drives [One big one for storage only]
2ea DVD Burners [This PC will ultimately replace my present desktop]
Mid Tower w/5 fans

I went w/minimum + requirements from AC & ProjectC.A.R.S. plus input from my PC "Guru". Sure hope I got it right!

Looking forward to giving AC a try...O.G.

That's basically my system (although I have the 8-core AMD) and it runs AC like a champ on triple screens, so you'll be feeling real nice on a single monitor.

As for going from GT to AC, you'll love the driving and the options, and you'll miss the MASSIVE AMOUNT OF CONTENT, but it's really cool as right now every week or two they're adding more in and it's always great to see what's next!

THANX Igano, KingPing & Gunstar;

Feels so good to know I've got some fellow players looking out for me! 👍

@ KingPing: I'm about as computer literate as a Brick! What's a PSU???

Many THANX...O.G.

Power Supply Unit. Don't try to save money there, go as big as you can, 750 watts or more.

WOW!!! Hope I didn't screw up. My computer guy [NOT a "Gamer", who could never understand me playing GT4 for 8+ hours at a time???] recommended a Mini-tower & 500 watt PSU, but I opted for a Mid-Tower since space is NOT a problem & I wanted plenty of cooling capacity & an EVGA 650 watt PSU. Hopefully it'll work out O.K. The PSU was one of the first things I purchased & exchanging it might be a hassle. Many THANX...O.G.

I honestly wouldn't worry about it. Quality is more important than size. Unless you're doing extreme things. If you're not doing insane overclocking on a CPU (where you start hitting horrible performance per watt for bragging rights), and you're running a single GPU, you don't need insane wattage. Get a quality brand that has high efficiency. My gaming rig, blasting at full load on the CPU/GPU, tops out at around 250 watts on my Kill-a-watt. Obviously uses a lot less when things aren't running at full tilt.

750w for a system that probably draws less than 400w? Why?
Unless things have drastically changed in the last 2 years, you'd want a PSU that will work in it's optimal efficiency range when loaded. He could get away with much less than 750 and even less than the 650 he has. Futureproofing is not part of this equation.

Well, he's got a decent size PSU and processor and FIVE fans if I read correctly. If he has a 650w he'll be just fine, that's what I have, but if you were buying today the price difference is so small going from a 500w to a 750w I don't see why you'd buy less unless you already have one or you're penny pinching.

OG - I live in the DFW area.

I have the Fanatec Porsche GT2 wheel, clubsport pedals - recently built a PC from Fry's with an ASUS HD 7970 video card.

Assetto Corsa is excellent - Shoot me a PM and maybe we connect.

Hiya Loxley & THANX for the offer! 👍

Am a bit distressed that GTPlanet has replaced the simple & effective PM system with this overly complicated "Conversations" debacle. 👎 Will send you a test & if I'm positive no one else can view it, will forward my phone number in a follow-up. THANX Again...O.G.

I don't care for most of the recent changes made to GTplanet.

OG catchy telephone number! I will call you!

Just joking :P

Actually I wouldn't mind ANY Member who has posted in this thread having my number! 👍 You've all been most helpful & welcoming. I look forward to being able to race with you all as soon as possible.

BTW: Got my PC about 90% assembled last night! Should only take a short session Saturday & I'll be able to purchase Assetto Corsa & have a peek for myself! Many THANX...O.G.

Evga Psu's are great. I had to buy two 650 watts because I run a dual xeon system. You wont regret it. Looking at everything you listed, looks great.
At the moment there's not much content for AC, however the time trials really do keep you busy, and they are not easy.
Rather like goldong the tests in GT4. THe only two I could not gold were the cone slaloms.

But I really think you are going to be impressed with your system and the way AC looks. I also have rfactor 2, but AC looks way more finished than AC. Rfactor looks like its on a pc, but AC looks like its a film almost. You'll understand what I mean when you fire it up.

Hiya Popeye:
Like I said in my PM, I got AC loaded overnight & am really anxious to try it. I'll post this again so any one reading will see it: Will a Logitech-DFPro work w/AC??? I don't see it listed on the pulldown but am sure I saw it listed somewhere as usable??? Many THANX...O.G.

MORE Help needed! I have super heavy "MONSTER" PS2 to Component cables & "assumed" finding an "Adapter" to hook them up to my new gaming PC would be "No Big Deal" but have spent several hours searching to NO avail! Any suggestions? Many THANX...O.G.

That doesn't add up to 400w at full load, and if it does, just barely over.

but if you were buying today the price difference is so small going from a 500w to a 750w I don't see why you'd buy less unless you already have one or you're penny pinching.
That would depend on what your idea of small is. A 30-50% price increase might be as little as $20 or as much as $60.

I don't think you'll find anything. PS2/3 cables are proprietary on one end and the adapter, if it exists, would cost as much as a new set of components.

You can buy cheap PSUs, and you can buy good PSUs, and the difference can be a hundred bucks sure, but comparing apples to apples I still say I'd rather spend $88 on a decent Corsair 750w...

http://www.amazon.com/Corsair-Builder-Bronze-Certified-Supply/dp/B008RJZQSW/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1392009991&sr=1-1&keywords=750w power supply

...than $65 on a decent Corsair 500w...

http://www.amazon.com/Corsair-Modular-Bronze-ATX12V-CX500M/dp/B00ALK3HF4/ref=sr_1_9?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1392010023&sr=1-9&keywords=500 watt power supply.

To me, that's $20 extra bucks for future expandability... your mileage may vary, of course. Since he already has a 650w, and I said sorry for alarming him, why don't we just chalk this up to different opinions? You want to run in the PSUs range, I'd rather have an extra hundred watts or so, there ya go.

THANX eSZee 👍 That sounds about right. Checked every source I could think of & found Numerous other adapters but NOT the one I need!

Perhaps I can throw a little light on the PSU discussion. Circa 1968 I was buying Stereo components from a catalog while overseas in the Army, to be delivered stateside. Bought speakers w/12" woofers, belt drive turntable etc. etc. [which BTW, I still have & use!] but was in a quandary as to which Tuner/Amp to get. A buddy there who was an electrical engineer explained it this way: "Sure, that 50 amp version CAN push your speakers at full volume but it'll be straining to do so. The 150 amp version however won't even be breaking a sweat! Kinda like a Volkswagen Beetle doing 75mph versus a Ferrari doing the same thing!"

I bought the big version [I'm most likely off on the exact amps but it been many years ] and never had to turn the volume up past 25% to "Rattle the Windows". But that tuner/amp lasted over 25 years & in fact only succumbed when I mistakenly thought I could add a rheostat to the speaker wires going out to my shop. I wanted to be able to turn the volume down when the phone rang as the tuner/amp was in the house. Would probably still have it today [had it "ON" for many thousands of hours] if not for MY error! :dunce:

Since that time, I've always bought electrical items w/more Power than I actually thought necessary in the hope that they'd just be "cruising along" instead of "straining" to do the job. All I can say is, I'm no electrical engineer BUT it works for me!
MANY THANKS...O.G.

Question: Both of the links you posted have 500w and 750w versions, why not compare the same PSU line instead of different ones? In the first line you have a $40 difference(80% price increase) and the next you have a a $30(50% price increase).
As for you preferences/opinion, that's fine, as long as you don't go around and preach it as fact.

(shrug) You win dude. From now on everyone use dinky power supplies. =P

I think you're wrong, you know that, you think I'm wrong, and I know that too. So there ya go. I did two searches and picked 2 similar units, I didn't meticulously research them, and I'm sure if I did I could have found cheaper examples of both. Anyways, done talking about it! Have fun.

I concur going bigger on the PSU is not a bad idea and long as it is efficient, that is the better question rather than just raw power.

OG... if you are interested in racing NetKar Pro... we play on most Thursday Nights around 7:00 pst. The game will cost you about $5 and there are plenty of tracks to download to increase the value of your purchase. I think I currently have about 55 and they are all enjoyable. The graphics are a little dated, but the game is still a lot of fun to play.

THANX for the invite Ripster! 👍
ATM the new PC is still in the house. Waiting for a couple of SATA Cables to be delivered from Newegg, plus the weather is horrible here [Ice Storm yet AGAIN!] Don't want to risk dropping my new "Baby" on icy stepping stones plus my shop is frigid! NOT to worry about NetKar Pro being a little dated, I'm a little dated myself!
THANX Again...O.G.

Little late to the party...I'm in DFW. You're going to love Assetto!

THANX DaehlateM: 👍
Got it downloaded but still haven't played yet. Weather due to be MUCH better this weekend so am hoping to get everything operational.

Hi there. For that manner, there is a (though quite expensive) way to hook up your PS2 (and other "old stuff") to modern LCDs as long you have a VGA-Input.
Check out THIS UNIT from Arcadeforge. This one will do the job but comes for appr. 232$ plus shipping.
