This is absolutely amazing, a new fundamental theory bringing together physics and biochemistry into an all new field that's set to explain how life was able to just pop into existence seemingly out of nowhere.
This guy's essentially breaking down the code for the big bang theory of biology and biochemistry.
Pretty much, he's hypothesizing that life began as selfish as life still is, by destroying everything around it in order to essentially be able to feed itself into a higher order. Entropy, thermodynamics, all that good stuff's involved as per usual, but this take is completely new. He's saying that the entropy around the building blocks of biological matter is actually what causes it to stabilize in concert with trial and error, seeing which atomic structures resonate best and can actually spend energy for a gain instead of just passing it through.
We may now be finally breaking down exactly why organic matter became life rather than just conductive or reflective material.
This gets me so excited, I instantly thought of Carl Sagan describing the Miller-Urey Experiment in Cosmos:
It wasn't lightning!!!
This is evolution in an atomic scale. Jeez, soon enough we'll probably end up with opposing macro and micro theories for biophysics just like regular physics xD
It feels pretty counter intuitive, this is almost like saying that you need to slow down to go faster, but it's so elegant. It makes so much sense now; when new paradigms like this pop up it's easy to dismiss our old selves and feel like this was an obvious conclusion, but dismiss not - we were stupid. This guy made us a bit smarter all on his own.
You don't need to start with complex compounds in order to catalyze life! If the theory's proven correct, everything really does break down to the nano-scale, even our spark!
WE ARE QUANTUM BEANSTALKS SPROUTING INTO THE INFINITE
