Really enjoyed that, thanks
Jolly good. Sorry about the technical hiccups. As I said it usually runs smoothly.

Anyway, that was a very enjoyable experience
I'm glad you got some enjoyment out of it Skip. Your races were er, troubled!

I ... missed the first race anyway due to a disconnect
Yeah that was unfortunate. The locked view is a reason I don't join the practice sessions too much. There's always settings that I've been using successfully for ages that get changed. That was one I'd failed to spot.

Thanks all again, I am really happy I met you guys
I'm glad we've met you. :)

I hit it, I assumed that was good enough
You should have said at the time, there would have been extra points. :P

Still a tricky track
It is deceptively tricky and totally different to Bannochbrae - which is why it's next to race on. :sly:

Will Oschersleben and Red Bull Ring be next Monday 29th March?
Oschersleben certainly will be. RBR the following week. I'm sorry I didn't invite you yesterday. Your friend request reply just came through as I was about to start the 2nd race. We'd been encountering problems and were running late so I thought it best to continue. Hopefully see you next week with everything running fine. 👍

Chaps - if you could invite saltyjoe90 to any practice sessions that'd help to acclimatise him.

@IfAndOr
Great weather mate some very nice lighting , was a bit worried when i see fog on the loading page
Thanks Rich. Yes I thought the fog might throw everyone, it quickly dispersed though into a nice sunrise. And I thought a bit of slightly dark, but not too dark, running in the 2nd race worked well.

My races? Well sort of OK I suppose but I kept making mistakes because due to the issues my mind was elsewhere, so I wasn't very competitive. Deep breath and back to normal in Germany.

Race photos. Was in good position, in 7, when contact with Max, coming in village.:boggled:

Paul, the locked view was in quali and you restarted it. Then we did quali again, finished it ... and at the end the game froze. So you restarted the lobby a second time, and it was decided that we would do without qualifying.

It was then that I met problems. I got the track loaded, got placed on the grid (at the back as usual), pressed READY, you completed the "readying" process after everyone, the 5 seconds countdown completed, I have a glimpse of the track and then ... blank screen with the message "you were disconnected from the lobby".

I think it was a sudden drop in oil pressure or maybe ECU issues. Whatever it was, that's a DNS from me ;)

EDIT - @John Wells thanks for the pictures, ! 👍

In the meantime... i'll be having (much needed) practise on Oschersleben - A /B tonight from 7ish, if anyones around. Is A / B two different tracks? if yes does that mean i need to practice both? :boggled:
Shortest track for the seven i would guess would be the normal ...

if i'm about sure look for you .

Hi @Pantheons, as the opening post says:

I'm doing it a bit like my previous Renault series with the 620 running on a short version and the 300 on a longer version of a track.

So yes, practise both versions. From memory longest in this case is the "A" version, so use the 300 for that one, and the Seven for the "B" version.

EDIT - I might join your practise later if I get the chance! 👍

Don't leave us hanging; we'll just fill the silence with speculatio
Weellll. I was thinking of putting the Caterhams on hold for just one week and running the 3 car tribute idea for Johnny Dumfries, Sabine Schmitz and Murry Walker next Monday. But only if that's OK with everyone.

It'd make sense since we're all around at the same time there's less to organise. And we'd still be racing.

The idea needs just a little fleshing out but it would involve the Jaguar XJR9 around Le Mans vintage, the Lotus 25 around Silverstone classic and the Porsche 911 GT3 on the Nürbergring 24hr.

The number of laps need confirming, plus a couple of other details. We'll be pretty much be using the same settings as with the Caterhams.

I'll post more later.

Then the following week it'd be back to Oschersleben.

Here's the details! It's been a bit rushed together but hopefully it'll be alright on the night.

A Night To Remember

A tribute to the recently passed motorsports icons
Johnny Dumfries, Sabine Schmitz and Murray Walker.

full

Featuring Johnny's Jaguar XJR-9 LM, Sabine's Porsche 911 GT3* and the Lotus 25 that Murray may have once commentated on.
*There is a 24hr version but the "normal" one has more liveries
In this order - The Jag will have a 5 lap race around Le Mans vintage. The Lotus will be a 9 lap race at Silverstone classic. The Porsche will be 2* laps around the Nürbergring combined (24hr)
* If we are running early I could add an extra lap (I know it gets late for @Napalm)

Each race will have a 5 minutes practice session beforehand just to let you get a feel for each car. The grids will be random for these races.

The Porsche will be a rolling start with the Jag and Lotus using standing starts.

If you want to practice, each race will be set at 3pm on the 1st Aug - nice and warm.

I'm not bothered about numbers and colours pick something that no one else is using on the night. Although the Jag only has 3 choices so that might be difficult! :P
I hope you enjoy this interlude. :)
If I think of anything else I'll add it here.

Edit: Could someone please post a link up on the PSN message, I'm unable to now. :guilty:

So, no points for the tribute?
Since it's a one off event - The winner of each race will be the winner of that race. ;)

I've usually done some testing a few weeks before each series but this event I've done some testing a few days before!

Anyway just a couple of changes.
The Jag will have a standing start now. In a rolling start those at the back wouldn't be past the final chicane when the race starts - which would be unfair and possibly cause accidents.
The Lotus race has been reduced to 9 laps. It's just to allow a little more time for the Nurb race which takes the most time. And I think 2 laps there will be plenty.

Mechanical damage will be off to allow drivers to use the stable setup on the Lotus without blowing up its engine (no cooling!)

I'd probably recommend the use of TC or at least ABS in the Jag. It's very fast and the corners approach quite rapidly. Realistic aids will be forced on in the Porsche to hopefully tame the machine a little.

Post updated above. Right I think that's it. See you all Monday.

Im not sure if I should post this here (but i dont know where else you'd all see it). Just got hold of a G29 wheel, and its not been a good experience so far. Do you guys (who have the same wheel) use the default wheel settings? Im testing it in the time trial section, where I think no help is turned on.
If i shouldn't have posted this here, let me know, thanks for any tips.

ok to ask .. there are many threads on gtp if you go to pcars in forum..
if i remembered right couple of adjustments needed in pcars2 settings .. it took a few hours to settle in myself .
