Hi.

I obviously have an Indian PSN account and a game I purchased from India, namely, "The Last of Us".

Now, the Region Code on the disc reads "BCES 01584". As per my knowledge that code is associated with the EU PSN store. I wish to purchase a DLC from the Indian PS Store ( The Left Behind DLC), though I'm wondering if the the DLC available on the PS store is compatiblewith BCES games?

The DLC description mentions nothing of it though it does mention that a disc of The Last of Us is required to play it. However, I've heard people on forums say that the DLC they purchased from the Indian PSN Store isn't compatible with their games purchased from India.

Could someone please confirm this for me? I wanted to make sure before topping up my wallet and purchasing the said DLC only to find that it isn't working.

Thanks alot.

According to GameFAQs, that code is actually for the EU version of the game, UK specifically, not for the Indian version. Your best option is to buy funds that is actually associated with the EU, such as UK Pounds for example, and purchase content from the respective store.

So to answer your question, no, purchasing content from one store for a different region disk is not possible on the PS3 and the PS4 due to DRM protections placed on the DLC itself. In your case, you need to create a UK store account, which is easy to do, buy some UK Pounds to fill said wallet, and purchase DLC from said store.

Hmm, I think Europe, India is the same PAL version. So pretty sure it will work. Some games have buy DLC on menu or something so by clicking on it should directly take to the correct place. If you are signed in on PSN then obviously it will show your country currency value. So look for addon or DLC if there is a option somewhere.

Data miners prove otherwise, @gtracedriver1. According to this thread, a few vendors around the UK got mismatched copies of The Last of Us upon release. In this person's case, he received a copy of the game who's online agreement was in Russian. He later found out that when he received his game from his vendor, SimplyGames, he received the game with the BCES code 01585, which is supposed to be Russia's version of the game. Another vendor in the UK, Grainger Games, is well known for selling imports as PAL copies. He later found out that the UK was supposed to get the code as stated in the OP.

So while the PAL designation is correct, what they should really look out for is the BCES number and match it to your country's version of the game. It is the BCES number that determines which country's PSN store that you can buy DLC for that particular game.

It depends where in India you bought the game from. In some countries it's a common practice to sell import EU and US versions of games as often the regionalised versions take longer to come out or are never released.

If it's a proper released in India version then it should work fine with the DLC from the Indian PSN Store. Usually under the DLC description it lists the BCES disk code it is compatible with (they do this on the EU store).

Basically all DLC must match up with the region the disk is from.

Any game is region-free, but DLC from another country isn't.
e.g. If you have a US PSN account, (or "SEN account", as Sony calls it today) and you have like for example, the Japanese or European version of the game you're attempting to buy DLC for that game, don't buy DLC for it. You'll just waste money on DLC that won't work.

I think that it is pretty well established you can't do that. The topic at hand is the BCES code that the OP has, and if it is possible to purchase content from the Indian PSN store (since both the code and India is considered PAL region) for the game. The answer is that you have to match the BCES code with both the content and the disk.
