A sad, sad day.

I was playing GT5P this morning for a few races and some online drifting, set my wheel to the side and watched TV for a while.

My housemate then returns home and decides he wants a drift only to find the pedals are now broken. One of the little pins for the DFP is bent and wobbling. :grumpy:

So, I now have to either upgrade to a G25/27 or buy a 2nd hand set of pedals meaning that in the meantime there is no point in playing GT with a ds3 (imo anyway) I just couldn't go back to chop chop steering and all out throttle of the ds3.

These things happen, but maybe it's a blessing in disguise - you now have the perfect excuse to get a new wheel, ready for GT5. In the meantime, perhaps you can make do with trying to refine your DS3 playing style? You can still get good results with a DS3, as the recent GT Academy time trials proved (i.e. some guys are very smooth and quick, even with the DS3). In the meantime, RIP your old DFP :( . Oh, and Phil, get a shave man, you look wasted

Or fix it.

Solder the broken piece together, spray some WD-40 into the potentiometers while the case is open, and keep your DFP.

Or fix it.

Or fix it and buy another one.

After having spiking again in my G25 pedals, I opened them up and fixed them, hopefully for good.
However the issue inspired me to consider again to by a spare set, just in case I get something I can not fix quickly.

Decided I'm taking the time to look at some Fanatec stuff.

It's the upper left most pin on the connector from the pedals to the wheel unit. The pin is still there but it's just wobbling around making me think it's the solder or connector behind it. - Fixable you think?

Problem fixed, I now have working pedals.

and close thread?

I have to say, three of the most respected and talented GT drivers I know (Zabeu, GTP_Timeattack, GTP_CarlPKY) have all been pretty dissatisfied with their Fanatec wheels and have instead gone back to Logitech :(

All the best

Not thread closed yet I'm afraid. When I'm WOT on the pedal the throttle input 'flutters' between say, 95% and 98% meaning going uphill at Suz in a 550pp RX8 people are pulling away form me. Looks like I may need to invest in a G27 afterall. Grrrr! Not good timing as I have a real engine to build at the minute which needs lots of $$$ spent on it still.

Sounds to me like you are just looking for a reason to upgrade, but are pretending to be not bothered. If you want a G27, go and buy one. After all, nobody would want to play GT with a crappy old pad, would they? 99% of GT players would disagree, but there you go...

Why not just pick up a g25. Hell of a lot cheaper for very little difference in terms of wheel performance. Sure its slightly louder, but the tach display is just stupid and you can have sequential mode.

That's exactly what I intend on doing now.

My housemate has the dfp near wrecked now anyway with his style of drifting/driving. :nervous::nervous::grumpy:
