A-spec grinding cheat problem.

I'm stuck at the point (level 32) where I need to start cheat grinding. I have got the red bull x1. Everything goes alright, I put elastic bands to full throttle on the right analog stick, and a tad to the right on the left analog stick, I win the race and get the credits and exp. But once the race is completed, I do not redo the race, instead I get the options to either 'watch replay', 'save replay' or 'exit'. Watch replay is the first option, and so when the enter button is taped down, I get sent into a continuous loop of replays.

I have not updated the PS3 in a while, would it be because of that that it is not working? Has anyone else experienced this problem?

No idea...

But - if you're so desperate for money, why don't you run some seasonals instead? Ferrari - La Sarthe should give you half a million for 3.5 minutes of work..

I'm at level 36. Not only have I never CHEAT grinded, I've also never run any A-Spec Races more than once (unless I lost and didn't score points).

You don't NEED to do anything.

Seasonals are the new rubberbanding...

...except a lot more fun.

Imagine that...actually PLAYING a game you paid money for!!!:)

To the O.P. -- I admit I rubber-banded for a while to earn money to re-do all the engines and chassis on my LeMans class cars. Instead of pressing the "X" key, you need to plug in a usb keyboard. Once the race starts, fix the "enter" key on the keyboard so it remains pressed ( I used a stack of pennies and a rubberband). I don't know if the new updates have "fixed" this as I haven't grinded (ground?) in a long while, but I do remember the "x" key not re-starting the races on the controller.

But having been there and done that, SlickTyres is right...There's plenty o' cash to be made (plus xp) for the seasonals.

Do the seasonals (La Sarthe)... It's the quickest way to get exp & a couple of dollars (500K) for 3 1/2 minutes of racing. Do the numbers... that's around 4.5 million every 30 min. Don't give yourself a concussion trying to figure out what's wrong with the game, because for every 3 1/2 minutes waisted there goes 500 Big Ones...

Believe me if you aren't careful, you will find yourself asking questions like... Who am I? And your answer might be... Batman!

I saw a video a while back of a guy who had built a small robot (like those lego robot things, not a real robot) that used some rubber bands to pull back on the right analog stick at a preset interval. Apparently this moved him through the post race menu and restarted the race. You would probably have to build something like this, not necessarily so complex (perhaps a string tied to an oscillating fan?)

I should say that the guy in this video was running B spec, you tying down the throttle and the steering as well might interfere with the controls. Id be interested to see if you can make it work.

I am not allowed to connect to the internet though, unfortunately i do not get a choice, if I do connect to the internet though, would you guys know how much GB it would take to update (i think i am in version 1.09 or something)

If you're running 1.09 then it should take you back to the race screen after you finish and have the cursor over the start race button. If the only choices are replay and quit then it sounds like you're running 1.0, which will not work with rubberbanding.

Ok, 1.09 was just a guess :). I only have about 4GB to spare each month of internet usage, would this be enough to update it completely, does anyone know?

I bought a used USB keyboard for 5 bucks and use a can of beans to hold down the enter key...lol. I have grinded my way to every expensive car I want, now I just troll the UCD for oddball rides I think I might use one day and keep 5 or 10 Mill lying around just in case. They did slow down the X1 on the walls at Indy so you can't use "Like the Wind" anymore, but the Dream Car Championship is still in play. I believe it's around $600, 000 per hour payoff.

Once I reached level 2 I realized I could beat the AI's with my eyes closed and the sound off so I struggled through massive boredom to get to level 35 and happily grinded the rest of the way.

It should be more than enough (I myself have never seen an update over 1gb).
And I think he can't even do seasonals with his 1.00 version, is that correct?

You need a usb keybourd and clothes peg on the enter key, you say you hav'nt updated for a while so you should be ok but there was a patch I believe to try and stop this but I cant remember when that came in.

Unless the latest version is installed you cannot use the OCD, seasonals or race online.

Or anything small and heavy, and it was 1.10 that ended the gravy train.

Thanks for all your help guys!

But 2 more questions :),
The latest update is 3.72 according to the Playstation web site, how many updates have there been (approximately) since 1.0?

And if I update it to the current one (3.72) will it only use the internet usage of that single update, or of all the updates

Its karma. The seasonals are an endless bounty. Why cheapen the experience by not playing the game?

That is the Playstation update, the current GT5 version is 1.13, and that will be updated within the next few weeks.

And if I update it to the current one (3.72) will it only use the internet usage of that single update, or of all the updates
To upgrade to the latest version it will download every update released between your version and 1.13. A rough estimate would be around 800 megabytes.
