DIARY

The strong smell of his own sweat mixed with motor oil and old Cheetos was something SCR was not accustomed to. He could not stand it yet he found himself surrounded by it quite often in the last few months. Spending so much time on the different challenges and races was also affecting his day job not just his personal hygiene.

An envelope next to the door caught his attention. The bellboy had slid it under the door while he slept. "If you don't make yourself available this semester for at least 2 courses you can stop calling yourself a professor" said the note inside. It was written by his boss.

"Great way to start the day" he grumbled. He had been a bit concerned about his ability to do his day job and continue doing the program. Now it was clear that other people were concerned about it too. He took a long shower and shaved. His green suit was clean so he put it on. It was nice just as he remembered.

He decided to go for a drive to clear his head....

As he sat waiting for his boss to see him SCR looked around him. The office was small and decorated with cheap furniture befitting the low rent reputation of a Community College. The smell of cigarrette smoke permanently attached to the furniture was a reminder of long gone times when Camel could still be bought at the cafeteria by anyone, even 12 year old kids with notes from their "father". SCR didn't care for the smell but the fact that successive administrations had failed to spend money on improvements to the decor was something he appreciated. "It is perfectly good furniture, a bit of a smell just adds character!" he said to himself every time he was in there which was not very often.

"Thanks Emily. We will send the paperwork through tomorrow" said the man sitting across the desk before hanging up. "Thank you for coming Professor Huges." he said with a polite yet nonsensical tone. "There is much to discuss so lets go straight to the point" he added without pause. Theodore Strongarm was a former College athlete turned Public Administrator with a short and simple style of conversation. He would have been a good poker player: Very hard to read and never letting emotion show when delivering a reprimand.

"Always a plea..." SCR muttered before being interrupted. "You know I don't like brownnosers. Let's talk about your duties here at the College". SCR didn't know what to think about his job. He was having too much fun with the PD program. He knew it was taking him away from the College more than any reasonable employer may be willing to tolerate. He didn't fancy his chances at keeping the job.

"This can be a Win Win situation". SCR couldn't believe his hears. He was almost sure he was getting the sack, how could that be a win win situation?. Theodore proceeded to present his vision of SCR's employment where he would teach one of his usual classes plus "Eco-Friendly real world driving", a new subject he had come up with. Theodore continued telling SCR all a bout it for the next 30 minutes. "It is a lot to consider so I have put it all in writing. Take thess documents, give them a good read and get back to me in a couple of weeks." . SCR liked most of what he heard but it really was a lot to consider. He was glad he'd been given time to think about it. As far as ultimatums it wasn't too bad he thought to himself.

"Now tell me all about what you have been up to" finished Theodore. Now it was SCR's turn to talk for an hour. His face lit up and a big smile appeared on his face....

Once again SCR found himself short of races. "Reaching 50 % was a blessing and a course" he muttered as he shaved. With each stroke of the razor he grew a more worried about what races to do next. "Strongman has a couple of good points. Keeping the job would help students be greener. And I get to keep using this staff bathroom for hot showers..."

He decided to go back to school himself...

After failing to complete either license (gold) SCR decided to sit down and analize which car he had to absolutely buy. He came up with three : A Gallardo 560, a Ferrari (Any ferrari) and a Mini Cooper. I theory he could get any of those using a special gift ticket but there was always a chance of not getting them. After thinking long and hard he decided to buy all three in one go so as to fee all the pain once and then never again.

"I never thought I'd see the day you spend that much" the man with the coarse voice said. Tall and Tanned with a gold chain as thick as the ones the famous Mr.T would wear, Tito Hooges was every bit the pool hustler his reputation made him out to be. SCR loved his brother growing up but Tito's love of women, booze and the good life made them grow apart as they grew older.

"You keeping well Tito". SCR was never sure what Tito was up to. "And what you do mean? Have you been keeping tabs on me?" asked SCR with a slightly angry tone. "You have a fan page on Facebook brother! Everybody knows what you are up to. And before you ask that IS why I am here" Tito replied swiftly. "You need to get a handle on your PR, you need a manager and I am here to help you with that".

"That would only end in tears" thought SCR, but Tito was right. It was getting harder to juggle all the commitments in his life, not to mention dealing with the mundane things that never really interested him like filling in race reports and having meetings with the PD program managers. Except maybe with it was a meeting with Ms Si..

"For once we agree Tito. I may regret this but what the heck. You can start by filling out these reports and working out with Strongarm the whole 'eco-friendly driving' course thingo"..."No problem brother, give us a hugh!!". With business out of the way they sat down to catch up.

"Ok lets get you back to the licenses" said Tito in a Cheery voice. "WHHAAAATTT?" was the response from SCR. "You see, if you are to be celebrity you need to give them something to talk about. What better than your struggles with the licenses?"

SCR didn't know much about this PR stuff so he shrugged and went back to the license testing centre. As much discomfort as some of the tests gave him it would increase his progress...nothing to loose he thought.

"Great stuff brother!" read the note stuck on the bathroom mirror. SCR wasn't sure what it was about but Tito's handwriting was a window to his mood. His writing changed noticeably with it and SCR recognized the cheery mood in Tito's decorated G and b on the note. After finishing getting ready SCR went to make a couple of phone calls but could not find his phone. It was an inconvenience but had saved him from "a bleeding wallet" so he left for the license centre. He was 10 minutes late.

I'm wishing there was more of a "story" here, but whatever. When you started this tightass's tightarse's guide, it had a lot more of a story. But like I said, whatever. Carry on.

I know. Coming up with the story takes some thinking and with family and long working hours it is harder than I expected. I find myself with only 1 hour or so every couple of days to either play or write updates.... Play usually wins :sly:

That's what i was hoping for more of. That was the main joy i got from this, was the story. Then again if it's hard for him to do that and the challenges with work and all i understand. I'll keep checking it out regardless.

He was 10 minutes late.

damn, its never gonna finish?

Too bad harsh comments may have killed this off, I for one was really enjoying the stories and logs of the Prof.

I wonder if he ever took up with the seemingly willing Ms. Si?
