A Tune Database!

If I am posting this in the wrong section feel free to move this thread!

After about a years worth of working about an hour a week, I finally have launched my Gran Turismo 5 Tune Database. I created this site because I wanted to learn a new programming language, and I thought this would be the perfect project after seeing how tunes are managed on this forum.

It's pretty bare bones at the moment and isn't the most eye-appealing site (I'm a programmer, not a designer :) ), but I do have plans for more features, content, etc. With that being said, the site has enough features to be utilized by GT5 tuners: Search/Filters, Voting, and Tracking of tunes.

I hope that this site could be useful to all tuners, especially those on this forum. I am extremely open to feedback. If there is strong feedback on a certain feature, I would be more than happy to implement it for you all. If there is any way I can "give back" to gtplanet (i.e. via link-backs, etc.) please let me know!

Without further ado: Gran Turismo Hub

You'll have to create an account to do anything tune related, but signup only takes a few moments. As well, the site can be a bit slow as I am using a free hosting provider temporarily. If the site outgrows the hosting provider, I will move it to an appropriate provider.

Thanks for looking, and I hope you all find this database useful.

I think it's a great idea. There was a tuning hub for GT4 and I miss that site. Easy to input and find tunes.

Some feedback on yours.

Tune type? The only choices are grip, drift and drag. Not sure what grip means. I would suggest tarmac, dirt, snow, drift and drag.

Track. Is there a choice for various? Not every tune is built for a specific track? What about adding a category for track type? Based on miles? Or city courses vs race tracks vs country side like Eiffle? Or elevation changes vs flat racing surface? Not sure what the factors should be, but I would find it pretty useful as a driver to pick based on track type.

The create tune link didn't work, so I wasn't able to proceed past that first page.

As a formatting suggestion for where we do input the tune, I think having things organized to a similar look as the A, B, C settings screen would make it simple to type over the information to your program. It should be at least in the same order as seen on that screen, if not look kinda similar.

Good start and nice idea.

Motor City Hami, Thanks for the feedback! I agree with pretty much everything you've reported. Some of your feedback contains stuff that I can implement today, while others may take a little longer.

Needless to say, I'm a little embarrassed by the error you encountered. I should have that fixed once I get home from work.

It looks cool, you have a lot of work to do for specific tunes for specific cars but these things can build up momentum pretty fast. Good luck with it.

Another tune database hey. Seems 1 in 10 people get this idea every few days.

I like that is it clean, simple design. However you need to add more functionality. You have a login but really, especially at this early stage you need to push registrations, where is the registration link? I'll take a look at it more when you get some tunes on it, offer more advice then.

But anyway good luck with it. I know how hard and how much work it is to build one of these from the ground up, nobody understands how much work it is till they try it themselves. As a competitor I look forward to seeing what you do with it.

The bug has been fixed for those of you who were trying to add new tunes.

Thanks. Could you clarify what you mean about "more work for specific tunes for specific cars"?

Thanks for the advice and kind words. Had I known about your site I may have not created this one. :sly: With that being said, it was still a good learning experience for me. Even if only a few people use it, I will probably keep updating the site.
