This idea came to my mind, when I was trying to improve my driving skills at Nürburgring Nordschleife with a very challenging car, Ford GT.
Maybe there could be an option in GT5, in practise mode, that would allow a player freely choose a particular section of a race track.
Benefits: When you make a mistake, you have the option to start quickly again at a certain part of the track (with flying start of course). You wouldn't always have to start the lap from the start line. This would result to faster learning of corners of any race track. And of course those sections would be with timing.
Option #2: maybe those challenging sections (possibly only at Nordschleife), chosen by Polyphony Digital, would already be in the game. So that they could be kind of mini games and people all aroud the world could compete against each other this way. (Is this called touge racing?)

Nice idea. I spent many hours on the Nürburgring Nordschleife track and it took along time for me to master the later stages of this course, having to start from the begining everytime i messed up. But then again it was half the fun actually making it work throughout the whole circuit and completing a lap of the monster that is Nürburgring.

But Touge or point to point racing would be fantastic. Checking out some of the vids on you tube really shows how this area of racing would be a great addition to GT5.

Imagine on-line tournements, knock-out rounds on point to point courses.

What a spectacular option that would be. I run in the GT4 WRS here at GTP, there are many times when I'd love to be able to focus on a particular corner or set without running full laps over and over, just to practice that one spot. Great idea.

I agree that would be a great option, to run just a specific corner or sector.

When I am practicing a specific turn/ corner... I Just attempt the turn then stop, turn around, then try it backwards, then stop and try it again. Not good for lap times, but it makes great practice.

This would basically be like some of the missions and license tests, only that each player can create their own on any part of any track in the game?

If so, that's a great idea, but it also sounds like an extremely difficult thing to implement considering the countless numbers of variations.

^ Err.... I'm not sure about that. Basically, the code for each track should be the easy part. This sort of thing would simply involve taking a section and adding start and finish routines to existing code. Even if he means the user defines the start and end points of the section, that shouldn't be much harder to implement, though not being a game coder I could be wrong.

I think thats a really good idea! I think it would also be cool to be able to design your own tracks. How much fun would that be? You could setup Touge, drift and complex tracks etc. I would rather something like that, as apposed to B-Spec mode.

I mean exactly that. Like a couple of those license tests (at Nordschleife  ).
No doubt a challenge for PD team. Maybe this could be a downloadable add for GT5 later..
