Hehe, I have known about this for a while and I think it is epic win. Hopefully the Army and Marines acquire this to replace the M870 combat shotgun currently in use. And now with the introduction of 12 gauge taser rounds.... :D

I still fail to see the point of an automatic shotgun, regardless of how cool the idea is.

You don't have to reload the gun after every shot? That's the only better thing I see about it, unless its more powerful than a standard military issue shotgun.

AA12 is also very low recoil, is much more compact/lighter, and can hold up to 30 rounds. A M870 is only pump-action and holds only 8 rounds. Plus a normal shotgun has a lot of recoil to it.

Man, that is one devastating weapon.

I don't really like FutureWeapons, though. The host sounds like a total sicko in every episode. I'd rather there be a show more focused on civilian market arms than the MIC.

Aside from it being very cool and versatile... boy it's one butt-ugly gun.

It's built like a tank, and looks like one. M4 is a tuned Porsche, by comparison. It can shoot 3.5" 00 buck shells (that's 19 .32 caliber pellets) at a very fast rate. For close combat tactics, nothing could be more devastating. Problem is, it wont pierce body armor, so it's has a limited capacity for battle use.

Which means they'll wind up trying to sell them to police/SWAT.

I'm sure the frag rounds would have their battlefield uses. I wouldn't be surprised if they came up with a slug with an armor-piercing dart or something, but then you might as well be using a submachine gun.
