Abnormal B-spec Problems

Okay, so I started the four hour endurance race on the Nurb in my Corvette Z06 which I knew would easily win, but I was going to B-spec the race because I was going to see a movie. I stayed and watched him drive for a few laps, saw he passed everyone, and set his speed to 2 or "Cruise" with Overtake on. I then watched for a few more laps and saw that it would automatically pit when it needed to, and even on cruise he was still slowly creeping away from the person in second. When I left after half an hour, he had a 2 minute lead. When I came back 3 hours later, he had somehow managed to lose the race by 15 seconds! I don't get it, what's going on? This has happened to me 3 times already in the past, where it appears he is doing good, then somehow he gets second or third. I tried searching the B-spec threads for this problem, but couldn't find a solution, sorry if this has already been throughly discussed before.

Thanks!

I'll keep it short... Endurance races, especially those in the Nurb aren't the type you can set and go do something else. You have to stay at least checking them every few minutes.

What's most probably happened, is something we B-spec'ers have suffered many times. After the long straight, the B-spec driver loses control of the car (usually because it hasn't pitted and is running almost red tyres) and overshoots the pit entry. Instead of turning around and driving backwards towards the pit, it decides to go for another lap, on even redder tyres and with much less gas. Until finally reaching the straight, losing control at the end of it and... read above.

Despite B-spec running the race, you have to check often to see how it's doing and consider how long a lap is and how used the tyres are... I always made it pit when the tyres were between yellow and orange. Good luck next time.

If you leave the AI / B-spec alone the lap times will slow down. I've noticed it to, especially on 24hr B-spec burg and sarthe. I've seen my laps times the night before on the burg 24 sit around 7:00 after 2-3 pit stops, then towards the end climb past 7:20 almost into the 7:30 where as the opposing cars typically stick to the same time frame + 10s max toward the end. Also if you leave the game to fend for itself your pit stops are a lot longer than they usually would be, depending on fuel need, etc.

Up your machine skill and course skill for b-spec so you can leave your z06 on 3 or 4 and you should be fine. an 85+ MS and 60+ CS should be satisfactory. Try a tuned elise 111R or Motorsport Elise with a combination of hard/med for tires and you should be able to outrun the pack without any sweat while still getting 180mph+ ( tune dependant ) on the 2.3km straight.

Thanks a ton, both of you. Diego, your explanation makes a lot of sense to me, and come to think of it, I am pretty positive that that is what was happening. And Denovae, thanks for saying how I could solve the issue. Now I will search for how to up my b-spec skill in those two areas, which I will surely find the answer to.

You just have to use a car that will absolutely smoke the rest, I did fine in the 24hr Nurburgring endurance with the 1000hp Toyota Gt-one, with Hard tyres I believe. The fool did a quarter of the lap with no fuel, but I won comfortably in the end.

some how huge lap difference wins in bspec bore me. keeping your b-spec just barely ahead of the competition or just behind the lead untill the very end will get you more points for your b-spec driver. I'm at the point where none of my tuned cars will get any points even for a sarthe or ring 24hr run if they have more than a lap lead.

i have also seen this time depreciation. my view is the longer the car runs the less horsepower it has because of dirty oil. and also the car can loose its 'shape' so to speak (body refresher helps this after race) and therefore the car will slow down during the 24hr races. IMO anyways.

That's your "punishment" for going to see a movie, and not embracing the spirit of racing. Do you think that when Derek Bell is racing an endurance, that his partner just leaves and goes to check out the latest release of Pirates of the Carribean???? Hell no! :dunce:

...I rest my case!....

ha ha just messin with you dude.

Haha, (switch to serious gamer voice) Your right, I should stand by Bob's side the whole 4 hours while he does his job (/serious gamer voice), even though it should be 1.33 hours if it would go the whole way on 3x speed, but whenever you pit it switches it back to 1x.

And by the way, I was going to see Ocean's 13 and it was pretty good in my book.

(serious gamer) i clocked it... it's actually closer to 2.75-2.80 not 3.

Really? If you are joking that may actually be true, because when I watch the seconds go by when it's on 3x they seem to be sort of skipping, where two will go fast, then one takes a little longer, then two go fast, then one takes a little longer, etc., or maybe I just spend too much time playing GT4:dopey:
