Accessories for GT3

I've just purchased a PS2 and decided to buy GT3. I've already owned GT and GT2 and loved both games for the PS1 and since I managed to get a PS2 cheaply I decided it's time I grab the game. Unfortunately I got the game used and without a manual. I would like to know if there were any licensed accessories for this game. I recall someone saying in GT4 you could use a special USB flashdrive or something. I also recall something about a special steering wheel endorsed by the makers of Gran Turismo.

Also when you bought the game do you get a special booklet like in the previous GTs about road techniques etc?

honestly, why not just pick up GT4? It's 20$ brand new and about 15 used. I would say go for GT4.

There are several wheels by logitech that work with GT on the PS2. Just make sure you get a logitech wheel. As far as the rest of the things you're asking about, check out the game guides and faqs on this site for help.

I wanted to finish this one first before moving on like I did with the previous versions on the PlayStation. Was there a specific steering wheel, perhaps a model number? Anything on a hints and tips and technique booklet coming with the game? I hope Platinum/Players Choice gamers do not miss out on the booklet :(

uh...ok.

Well, it's not like you can't play GT4 without playing GT3 first. In fact, GT4 is a much more complete game then GT3.

All your questions about steering wheels and the like can be answered by looking at the sticky at the top of this very forum.

I'm with liam on that--GT3 is worth getting...I also bought it several months after GT4 came out cause I want to finish the games in order. There are less cars in GT3, but this makes it less distracting and quicker to finish. Also, the racing is very intense in some of those races (not like GT2). Even with full power of 1000ish hp, my Viper or Camaro RC can barely keep up in some of those later races! :D

You can also get the I link set up which allows you to play with some
friends that also have PS-2s. Some of the best fun I have had with this
game was racing my brothers and nephews. Its pretty simple to set up also.

^ Yeah thanks for that. I'll start GT4 as soon as I finish GT3.

^ Yeah I noticed, it looks pretty cool. I was considering trying that out but it would require another TV and I'm currently unemployed :(

The driving techniques aren't any better described in the GT3 (or GT4) manual compared to all the information described in the GT/GT2 manuals. In fact, the original GT and GT2 manuals still relate to the same things, it's just that the physics model changes somewhat in each game. The same rules apply.

If anything, the manuals have less and less useful information with each iteration.

Very true. The only difference from GT2 to 3 so far as manual goes is they go into the Analyzer (you can use this to monitor your braking, acceleration & speed in some time trials and machine tests) and the GT3 manual also has a chapter from the Skip Barber Racing school...all of which can be found on Skip Barber's website I'm sure...
