Add weight or decrease performance via ECU or via power limiter?

ok I have a question; has anyone got any thoughts on the ideal way to adjust your vehicle to the required PP?

depending on mods I know, but generically speaking should you add weight or reduce engine output? I'm working through testing but really only by feel and keen to know everyone else's thoughts.

It depends on the car. Typically I tend to see pretty good pp drops up to about 65-85 kg of weight. Kinda seems to drop off after that. So usually I'll go up where the "cliff" is where it drops the pp and then relatively stops. Then I'll adjust the ECU. For me, that sweet spot tends to be somewhere in the 65-85kg range for most cars. Seems like this game prioritizes hp over handling with 40 sec headstarts. So therefore I first do weight until the point it no longer makes sense to do so, then move onto hp.

I tend to think the ECU would reduce power across the hp curve where the power limiter should reduce mainly peak power? That's my understanding of how it works. I'm likely dead wrong as I've not tried it in GT7

I didn't think there was any difference between using ecu or restrictor. I've tried both.
In racing, restrictors are common to balance cars.

I've always gone for reducing power. Not needed to add ballast yet. That would be my last choice, as will effect handling, braking etc too.

I haven't tried it in GT7, but if it is possible to get the car to (or closer to) 50:50 weight ratio by using the ballast, I would do that. And then limit power if more PP reduction is needed.
