Adjusting the Family Cup?

Okay, this might be an obvious question but I can find no mention of it in the manual or here on the boards.

I was trying out some of my cars on the Family Cup as its a great way to get competitive races for some of my cars that don't seem to fit anywhere else. The problem is that at 2 laps the races are just too short! Is it possible (at all) to change the length of the Family Cup races?

Thanks in advance for any help.

If your car is stock, you might try racing in arcade mode, where you can adjust distance. I have seen no way to adjust distance for the family cup. Another alternative is a track meet, where it is like qualifying. Not the same but you can interact with the computer cars.

Arcade Mode? OF course! (I have no idea why I didn't think of that - I mean to say I did notice that my buying cars in GT mode made them available in Arcade; I just never made that leap). That's perfect!

Thanks for the help Philly Cheese!

I really wish they had included the option for making the Familiy Cups races longer as the AI seems better in these races when you adjust it to the higher settings.

I know that arcade is adjustable and again the AI feels better here, but thats only any good with stock cars.

I also like racing longer distances than 2 laps. I wish there were a way other than arcade mode. I really would like to race cars that I build on a 20 lap shootout against cars of its class without having to do an enduro race. I dont like maxing out my cars power and everything, I build more on the lines of a budget type setup. Well hopefully GT5 will give us this option of longer practice style races.

BTW in practice mode it seems that sometimes I just litterally crush the competition, thats no good either haha.

I think the AI qualifys slow. I've been in a good heat with them (qualifying mid-pack) but get owned in the race. Often, my first lap lead is about half of my qualifying difference.

Thanks again folks, I've had a go at the arcade mode today and had races with some of my cars that I thought I'd never find races for.

Of course, the Spyker is still pants...

hey guys don't make fun of me or anything..but. what is the family cup?! where can i find it in the game? is it necessary to achieve 100%?:scared:

There are various links on the GT screen; if you go to the Original Circuits or City Circuits or... the other ones... you'll be presented with a bunch of tracks. If you select a track you can take the option of going for a practice drive, or a track meet or the family cup. In the Family Cup the computer will automatically pick some cars of similar standard for you to race against so its a good way to give some of your cars a run out. There's little or no prize money though and I don't think it counts towards your percentage.

One thing is bad in Arcade tough, if you want to use your own cars, you can't use Driving Assists.. (ASM TSC) and being a fan of the Jaguar XKR, this really is bad, because it drives way better fully tuned then normal.
