Ads in threads

For some reason today I am seeing adverts in the middle of threads despite being logged in.
I'm using Chrome for Android 4.1
If I'm not logged in these usually appear, but when I do log in there's normally only advertising at the top and bottom of the page.

Is this normal or is my browser/gtp playing up?

All non premium have been having this too, it may have been added since last site maintenance recently. It's always below 1st post on every page

Hopefully there won't be more ads added in every page.

Yh there's even one below my original post now! Hopefully it isn't permanent, they are a nuisance on the mobile browser!

Can't be the only one who's OK with them. lol

As long as they aren't full-screen popups with obscure minimise icons then they're fine in my eyes...

They started to appear after the first posting for me as well. Today is the first day of it happening thought. Monday they weren't there for me.

I don't mind them on top, below, or to the side, but once they obstruct the reading flow it is mildly annoying.

Yeah, I got them here too (laptop).

Also, I've noticed that the not logged in forums is different now.

This is how it looks now:

Before, there used to be a bar on the right showing recent post and the such extending throughout the page. Guess it's better for the non-members.

Sorry, my mistake - those banners should only have been visible to guests. I've updated the templates now so they should be gone for all logged in users.

The simple fact is, the more obnoxious an ad is the more effective it is. Not that an ad has to be obnoxious to be effective, but if it is obnoxious then it is effective.

I see it differently. The more obnoxious an ad is the more it stands out and gets noticed. I don't think it's more effective though, IMO.

With effective I understand that people buy more due to that ad.

Ad block is extremely harmful to the websites you frequent, ad revenue isn't much but every little bit counts towards keeping the sites running.

If you could consider accepting the slight inconvenience of seeing adverts on the sites you enjoy you will really make a difference 👍

Nothing wrong with having ads, it was just odd seeing them inside threads. When I have some cash to spare I may go premium, this site is definitely worth it!

I know sites need to make money but I used to get loads of problems with my PC and my old Android phone due to bad adverts on websites, I even had a few viruses from them so that's why I use a ad blocker. Also malware within adverts for Android is going up as well.

I am thinking of going premium. (GTP is worth it. Miles better than the official Forza forums, more features and a better community atmosphere.)

That's when you add exceptions to display ads on the sites you frequent and trust. So basically only GTPlanet.

Using chrome, a couple of times I've clicked to go to the news tab, or forum tab, and it's followed the banner ad link instead... It's only a minor niggle, and I think it's more to do with Chrome sometimes failing to render the page properly.

I really should renew my premium.
