Advice please.

Hi all,

I need advice please about some problems I’m having with GT6.
I was using a 320gb PS3 slim which slowly died due to YLOD (complete Blu-Ray drive failure in the end). So, I replaced it last week with a brand new 500gb super slim.

Once the system had updated and I was logged into PSN, I inserted the GT6 disc and all my problems started. The update process downloaded fine, installed and then the game started it’s own install. This took five attempts over two days. It kept timing out. I spent over an hour on the phone to Sony support and their only suggestion was “It’s the system, it’s broken. There’s nothing wrong with GT6 or it’s updates.” Eventually it did install and the game started.

BUT all is not well. It crashes upon first startup when accessing things like the garage or dealership and I have to quit and go back and load the game again. It won’t load Silverstone at all and the BGM keeps breaking up, it just sits there with that little clock spinning around. And now, when I go to race on Apricot Hill, before I even get control of the car, the system freezes completely and I have to do a hard shut-down resulting in three beeps and a HDD scan on start up.

So, my questions are:

1: Is the disc faulty (it’s clean) and should I replace it with a download direct from the Playstation Store?

2: Is the system faulty? It’s straight out of the box, only has GT6 on the HDD at the moment and everything else appears to work fine?

3: If I do replace the disc with a download from the PS-Store, do I remove all current GT6 related data (cars and credits already backed-up) first before downloading?

Sorry about the length of this post, but I’m getting really fed up with GT6 constantly crashing and Sony support are useless.

Many thanks,

Greetings,

Well, firstly, I think you should try to insert an other PS3 blu ray disc (an other game in other words) in your system.

If the game works correctly, you can conclude that it's the GT6 disc fault. At this point, 2 solutions:
- You buy a new physical copy of GT6 and try again.
- You buy the game from the PS Store. I'd eventually recommend to delete your GT6 datas before to downlaod the game from PS store.

If the game doesn't work (the game you tested previously, not GT6), the problem comes from your PS3 system. As it's a brand new system, I guess you can use the guarantee.

Hi,
I had a similar problem a while back where the game would just take ages to load on anything.
Believe it or not, the fault wasn't the PS3 or the GT6 game... it was actually my broadband router which kept blocking some ports. (Virgin Super hub)

Who is your broadband ISP?
Is your PS3 connected wirelessly or wired?

If it's wireless, try hardwire an ethernet cable and then try see if it works as normal.
If it's improved but still a little glitchy, You may need to reset your hub to factory settings, disable the built-in firewall and manually try port forwarding on your router device webpage.

Check to see if your GT6 disc has a ring on the back of it, it may have ringed when your old PS3 YLOD mine did that

I had similar problems, couldn't race on all tracks, if the setting tab was not there & everything else was, driving options, course options etc, but no car settings tab it would bounce me back to the arcade mode if i tried to get on the track brought me to the selection for time trial or single race. Freaked me out.

I deleted the game data then installed each update one at a time, running the game after each update checking to see if the races kept working after each update. They did and I've never had the problem again.
