I'm a noob to the forums here, but Been playing GT since the original.
Anyway. Was wondering if anyone else has truly tried out there Bots in a way to evaluate their talent level against each other with telling results at all. Trying to establish how the bots work and how to be the most efficient with them. Currently have four bots about 16-18 and a level 9. Two cool cats and three hot heads. I get how they work based on the pace meter etc. But what I have been trying to identify is wether or not there are all star drivers out there. So far it seems there are some drivers that can outpace other bots of the same skill level. Using the same car and events to challenge them equally. Overall I feel the bots are pretty good. They used to be indecisive and slow but have improved. Good way to make money if you give them enough car. Sometimes can just let them finish on their own. Any one else have experience with bot "try outs" that can confirm some are better than others? Otherwise I'm probably just wasting the life of my ps3 and my time. Oh, anyone else notice that the pre race emotion system tends to make you use all your bots evenly as opposed to leveling one up extremely high. Any one know how if there's a pattern to the pre race emotion's. Want to level up one driver more often than the rest?

My Bobs tend to act very different even if their stats are exactly the same... So there does appear to me to be some more dynamics under the hood...

And yes, some of my other bob/ts do a better job than my higher level ones... But that being said they all seem to run similar lap times at comparable exp levels and heat settings... It's just the difference in skill... some are great passers... others not so much... some drift, others don't... but unfortunately, the early breakers seem to be tied to exp more than personality.

I watched the now famous comparison of Forza 3 and GT5 posted on YouTube. Here a guy tries to show that the original comparison was fingered to make Forza look better. He does this by reconstructing similar situations in GT5 and shows how the AI reacts to your car being stationary on the driving line. Here you can easily see that different cars take slightly different decisions. I think this shows AI differences similar to b-spec personality variations.

Oops...I read AI bots but I think you meant All bobs? My bad

My 50 cents (All just MHO, no proof or 'knowledge', just my experiences):

1. A Bob cannot be quality controlled until he reaches some level...like 25-30. At this level he can do stuff right (gear changes, not hitting walls whatever the pace etc). A Bob which seems ADHD or bipolar at 20 might be a superstar at 35.

2. The 'best' stats are braking<cornering<accuracy. A good cornerer can overtake in the corners. A good braker can overtake on the approach to the corner. Anyone can overtake on the approach if you push him. Staying near the ideal line is paramount as it otherwise leads to bad apexes, too much braking etc.

3. At the end of the day the stats even out. The only thing left at 40 is base personality.

4. Blue Bobs like to overtake by slipstreaming. Red Bobs just floor the pedal. This makes Blue Bobs consider the car infront and can cause them to reduce speed to get a better slipstreaming position. Red Bobs will ignore their position relative to the car infront and try to pass by gas alone. This is slower than slipstreaming. Obviously every situation in a race is different and each one would do better at different places in the race. Each track/race has its 'best' Bob type.

5. Most of these details are irrelevant for our ingame b-spec (they're just too detailed to be noticeable) but they sure are visible in the SLS b-spec TIME TRIAL!

hahaha to be honest, i noticed it happens a lot...
my best Bob is now Lvl 29 and usually he doesn't slipstream as much as the other ones...
