OK, I've searched all the posts and can't find an answer. I'm currently at 45 S and 27 D AI driver levels. The 27 D's are shown as split S/D on the track selection. How do I move the D's to S's? Ive' done numerous races at D level and it doesn't move. I've tried drifting (hated it) and it didn't move. This, and all colors, is the only thing left and I would like to move on to GT5 with a clear conscious.

You need to win, not just finish the races. There's an old thread in this forum that lists all the possible permutations to level up, but winning is the most straightforward way.

Ok, I've done at least 15 races at Apricot Hill finishing first every time. The AI level is still S/D. Is there a certain mode I have to race in? Do I have to race level D and then move to C etc... ? Do I have to race AdHoc? I've got 27 S/D to clear and I've seen screen shots that show 72 S so I know it can be done. This is driving me crazy, HELP!!!!

Perhaps you're speaking of the driving level you've achieved on the reverse configuration of the course? S means you've aced the forward side and D means you haven't done the reverse side yet.

Yes. Win D once, you'll get to C, win it once, you'll get to B, win it twice, you'll get to A, win it three times and you'll get to S. Lower finishes also work towards higher levels but I have no idea about how many of them you'll need for each level.

S/D on a certain course means that you've cleared it to S level in the forward direction, now start from D in the reverse direction until you're at S there too, resulting in a marking S/S.

You're complicating yourself too much!
It says S/D because it means S-Foward/D-reverse.
To level up you must race (and win) at the highest level.
it's not hard, pick a good car, it takes about a month

Ah yes, I forgot about the reverse configuration. It has been a long time since I levelled up everything to S lol.
