AI too aggressive?

Ya.... So, the AI are out of control. It was fine up until S class races.... But, I have not been able to race a clean lap in I don't even know how many races. It starts about 3 seconds after the green flag drops. I am slammed from the back, pushed off my line from a car sideswiping me, and literally forced off the track countless times.

I am starting to get really, really pissed.

I'm not up to the S class races yet, but I am pretty disappointed with the A.I. in this game. So far the A.I. has yet to put up any sort of challenge and I've seen them make many stupid moves with it set on the hardest difficulty. If what you say is true, I'm not looking forward to the S class.

Ya. It was like that at first....

And then....

BAM. Do not expect to win a race without getting dirty.... It is not even fun at this point. I know the AI auto balances in World Tour so hopefully it readjusts so they stop being asses.

Personally, I feel that FM4 is more challenging on the AI front than GT5 is. They race as if they don't care that you're trying or going to pass, they stick to their line for the most part, and don't give much room for passing, especially when racing lower spec cars. All in all, I feel its fun and challenging, so I'm quite pleased, did a few challenge races with a Peugeot 908 to unlock the Autovista feature, and seemed ok, but time will tell I guess.

A.I. is always going to be a bit dumb!

I liked the demo though, they reacted to you quite well, and they will defend their line quite harshly, but you don't want AI that just moves out the way if you have the merest hint of overlap, it should close the door etc.. and I'd give the demo 8/10 on that front, I had to work on my passes, the crucial thing was that if I had enough overlap, they did yield, although a few times this caused them to get a bit squirrely, and I ended up being tagged by a spinning car!

Can't wait to sample the full game now!

I had a similar experience this morning, and it happened right before the first turn. Pissed me off and I restarted the race. They didn't do it the next time though.

They do that a lot in lower class as well, it's just not as drastic. I got boxed in by two AI at one time, and I think they brake way to early. It seems that Auto Adjust adjust the AI so that you will beat them, not so they propose a good challenge unless they get out ahead. I hope to see a patch that changes it, or at least lets us set our own AI difficulty, because right now I feel it's a little too easy. However, on some races I find I'm going three wide in the narrowest parts of the track, very scary and a big plus!

I have my difficulty set to custom, and it allows me to set the AI difficulty, and if you disallow outside classes, another option "Opponent Cars - Stock or Modified" comes into play.

You can adjust AI difficulty in Events list but not World Tour.

In World Tour, if you get 2nd place in a race the AI goes slower the next race. If you beat the AI by a lot it will go faster the next race. So what I do is on the last lap, just before the finish line, I slow down and wait for M. Rossi. That keeps them on a fairly even keel.

So if you think the AI is too slow, beat them by a wide margin.

exactly what I do. I try not to win by too large of a margin. Game has been fairly easy but there were some A class races where I was badly out-powered driving a subaru wrx sti (I like 4wd) against some serious cars. I just rammed them to get into 1st and blocked like crazy to stay in the lead.

My experience have varied a lot, in this regard. In the lower classes (up to b Class), the Ai is perfectly tame and is playing nice, actually. In A and S Class, though, they've been smashing my car up pretty badly, given the chance. They've sandwiched me inbetween two or three cars right at the start quite a few times.

In R3, they're pretty tame again. They'll brake early to avoid me if necessary and change they line through a corner if need be, quite unlike what I've experienced in A and S Class, where they wouldn't move and inch and rather run me off the track.

Dunno, I guess being in super cars isn't good for their ego.

The AI I've noticed are good to race panel to panel, ie close but are afraid to go side by side through the fast corners, and for a laugh enter the Hummer in F class races...they try and jam their car down the inside, tag you and spin themselves out.

The AI seems to be a bit random. I was in a A-class British sport car race and there was i huge pileup in the first corner. Restart race and not a single incident during the race that i could see.

Yeah I was doing the Aston Martin race today on Catalunya and I think it was 'Taylor' who, going down the main straight about 15 seconds into the race, just smashed into the right rear of my V12 Vantage and I was off! Happily got my revenge though. :)
