Seemed like good clean racing last night. BK was untouchable, which i kind of expected entering the race. I really enjoyed the first 3 or 4 laps as i wasn't too far off from JT and Mike was there catching my draft. I starting losing my concentration once things starting spreading out. I raced with no one for the last 14 or so laps.

Overall, i'm extremely happy with my results last night. I had minor errors here and there. My 2 biggest errors came near the end of the race. Both in the Ford Chicanes. Spun the car once entering the final chicane on lap 19 and missed my braking point at the final chicane on lap 20. My concentration was completely gone at that point.

JT, i feel for you. You were def a top 2 entering the event. Keep your head up.

I ran 40 practice laps last night. Every once in a while I would catch up to Mike and then he would disappear again. I made no mistakes so I can't complain. It was tough holding my concentration for that long running by myself. At least on the shorter tracks we'll see other drivers.

Good job BK. It's no surprise that you won.

Excellent job Red! I guess roadrash and I will race for 5th place since you turned into a fast guy.

I guess I don't understand the fuel mileage. Pitted on lap 10 with half a tank, took on 30, figured that would do me, at lap 13-14 was down to close to 1/4 tank, stopped for another 30, finished with a hair of red. Once the tank got down 1/2 way, seemed like fuel was being burned at twice the rate.

I will agree with you Brett, the fuel mileage is not accurate at all. According to PD my Peugeot has a tank size of only 86L!
I wanted to do a two stop strategy but was not able to!
Looks like fuel strategy is going to be more important than tire strategy in this series. Good job PD!
oh well on to the spin-festival at Nurburgring GP/F track.
24 laps plus a pace lap eh should need about 200L of fuel to make it lol.....on to fuel strategy testing...

On my first stop at lap 9 I was about half full on fuel. PD told me to take 31 liters, that brought me to about 3/4 of a tank. On my second stop at lap 14, PD told me to take 3 liters. I finished the race on fumes. Yes there is something wrong with the fuel consumption.

I had a similar strategy to roadrash, but on the last stop I didn't trust pd so I made it 12 liters. I had plenty of fuel crossing the start finish.

Always take more from what is recommended. Think i took 6 - 8 extra liters and was nearly on fumes at the end.

mmm did anyone else lose tons of Horsepower after the race?
My Peugeot went from 650 Hp to 628 Hp:ill::crazy:
even though I changed the oil and rebuilt the motor before the race! :scared:

As for fuel on La Sarthe, I guess the Peugeot is penalized the worst, I had to take on 43L, 6L and 4L more to make it across the line safely.

43L is half a tank of gas for my car according to PD

After the race last night, I went to change the oil and noticed the same power loss too, not as much but I think it was 10-12hp. I used one of those car reset coupons and changed the oil prior to race night.

I took a total of 65.

Passing zones for Nurburgring GP/F

Sector 1

Main straightaway speed will be in excess of 290 Km/h, before you brake hard into turn 1. Castrol is the slowest corner on the track, it's a wide 270° right hander and is also the best opportunity for passing to occur safely under braking.
A slight uphill stretch and you are into the start of the technical Mercedes Arena section of the track. This section includes the blind apex off camber turn 2, a downhill run into the tight slow left hand turn 3 followed closely by the sharp right hand turn 4. A good exit out of 4 is essential for the run down the short straight.

Sector 2

After the short straight out of 4 you encounter the Valvoline curve, a mid-high speed left hand sweeper. Be careful not to run wide or sand and a step fall off outside the track surface will await your fate. From here there is a short downhill run into the Ford curve, the most bumpy tight right hander in all of GT5. Get this corner right for the run down the downhill straight before braking hard into the Dunlop hairpin. Passing will occur here as well, take care to not knock you opponent off the track into the sand upon exit. Try make a good apex here as it will set you up for the exit and try not to spin the tires you will need the speed for the uphill section ahead.

Sector 3

One of the toughest high speed esses awaits you at the start of this sector. As the Schumacher S approaches let off the gas and get the entry right and hang on through the fast, narrow, uphill, off camber left-right S. The Schumacher S is protected by deep sand on the right at the entry and on the left upon exit, along with grass and high curbing it is the most treacherous S that I know off. Get it wrong and half of the field will pass you before you can recover. After surviving the Schumacher S there is a short uphill run into the Michelin curve a med speed uphill left hander, take care and mind the curb on the inside as it will throw you wide on to the run off area. Passing will occur during the braking zone, be courteous and make sure you have the inside line upon exit as it sets the next corner up nicely. After a short downhill stretch you arrive a Bit a quick downhill right hander, don't run wide or the sand will grab your car and beach you upon exit. With a good exit you can reach top gear by the bottom of the steep downhill straightaway leading into the fastest corner of the track.

Sector 4

At the bottom of the hill, Haztenbach awaits, it is a fast wide right hand kink where draft passing will occur leading uphill sharply into the Veedol chicane. Sort yourselves out before the chicane as it is very rare to see 2 cars emerge unscathed through this extremely tight, well guarded left-right chicane. Hit the inside curbs of both corners and accelerate up and out towards the final turn. Watch out for cars peeling off into pit lane and approach Coca-Cola corner wide and apex it early as you do not want to run wide on the exit into the awaiting sand on the left. Good traction and acceleration is needed to reach top speed down the straight across the start/finish line.

Nice race pics Red

I see that they have renamed some of the corners at Nurburgring GP/F circut  oh well I just used the names that I remember.

right now I can hold down a lap time of 1:47:xxx for about 8 laps before the softs wear off, that leaves me with a fuel window of 29L per stint x 3 stints that means that my Peugeot will use about 87L, mmm.... interesting this race might call for a one stopper on hard tires perhaps:idea:....more testing is needed.

Thanks, nice write up. Pretty sure i am going to miss this week. Shame, I love the Nurb GP / F.

Is it a solid miss or a chance? Maybe we can postpone a week if everyone is ok with it.

Looking like a solid miss. Please do not postpone because of me. Have the race next week. I'll still jump on and practice with you guys.

Helpful video from iRacing that is good info for any racing sim.

What about switching to Thursday?

I am ok either way, postpone or run doesn't matter to me.
Are we running on the 26th? or taking a break?
If we are taking Christmas off then we would finish the series on the last day of January if we postpone next weeks spinfest...

I appreciate you guys considering moving race 2 to the following week. I never would have requested for the race to be delayed/moved. Delaying may do some good. Let some guys get a feel for the car to better their racing. Myself included. These cars are a big change from what many of us typically run.
