If it was one of those old things, they were a treat to drive - fearful reliability and rust issues though. Best line I ever heard - 'drive them fast before they rust'.

Best handling Alfa I've driven (but I haven't driven a 147 yet) was a mate's 2 litre Giulietta (spelling?) - the rear drive sedan from the early 80's, the squared shape thing (must have been a private import as that car was never available in 2 litre form here) - man, that thing handled like it had its tongue in your ear, just fantastic.

yeah youve got the one vat_man. front drive alfasud. your driving along, the engines screaming, you feel like your doing 100kmh and your doing 60  .

i loved the one and only drive i had in one. i thought by the engine revs i was flying, but i was doing 80. still a great little car though

The 'sud was about corners, not the straight line.

Like most Alfas it had its bizarre faults. The one I drove (belonged to a uni friend) the speedo would stop working periodically, and then just start again.

The other highlight was the headlights going off the moment you turned on the interior light - made map-reading at night a bit of a lottery.

the one i drove had a different speedo problem, it flicked right round to max speed and never came back. id love to get one now and try and drive to work in it.
