I have a question for all those 24 hour racers out there. How do you handle a 24 hour race. I mean you either do it in 24 fours straight VERY STUPID CHOICE or you can leave your pS2 on for almost 2 weeks MORE SENSIBLE CHOICE but what if your ps2 craps out. Your finished. And if your GT4 disc is in your console you cant get it out

So please for all those GT4 pros or players give me some tips on how you handle it

Thanks alot

Minoltafreak

It has been done both ways - some brave souls have gone the 24 hour straight route  - others have left their consoles on for at least 500+ hours - the PS2 seems capable of handling this.

Power cuts are another thing - get a UPS.

It took me ~3 weeks, my old SCPH3004 did very well, no crashes etc., just put it in calm place.
We, in Poland, hardly ever have powercuts, so it never disturbed me :)

"so the 24hour race is actually 24 hours? that sucks! i would deffinately not race it all at once.your eyes would be f^cked up " If you don't do it, you don't finish the game, and have you ever heard of B-Spec mode once? You don't have to make your eyes burn.

Anyway, since your name is Minoltafreak, either you are going to treat your minolta right by not racing it or you're going to race it because you love the car. either way, you have to use that car. If you don't really have one, then create a new account with a different name.

Slim PS2 series 70000 just plain never get hot anyway.

A-spec: How is this choice stupid? Some people just like racing that long. It's their choice, you can't just say it's stupid. It may not be your first choice. But still. Nostupid.

B-Spec: Two weeks? You gotta be kidding me.
Approach A: You start in the morning on a weekend, go to B-Spec, Speed it up 3x, watch TV for a couple minutes, flip back, watch the car go to a pit stop. Speed it back up 3x, watch more TV, repeat. If you keep doing that it will only be a little over eight hours. And of course, you don't have to just watch TV. Play your other system. Eat a snack. Go to the computer.
Approach B: Start at around noon. Mind your own business. Come back at noon tomorrow, and you will probably have gold.

If you're going to do it at all, get a rigidity refresher plan in the tune shop, and when you're done, get the support cage (both in the "Other" section of TRD). If you're going to do it A-Spec, which it sounds like you won't be, Take "Coffee breaks" every hour or so. Refresh your eyes, go outside, read a book, something that will keep your eyes fresh and keep the screen from blurring... If that does happen, "contact a doctor right away..."

The more you race the more you will want to race. To A-spec the 24 hrs La Sarthe is a challenge of the highest order, steeped in history and not to be entered into lightly. Prepare yourself - mentally and physically. Get two of your friends to join you as a team, like they do in the real race, and make a great weekend out of it. You may not feel like racing this right now, but given enough time, you will take up the challenge of Le Mans.

Unless of course he enjoys Minolta cameras.

But no there is no way I would play any game 24hrs. straight. I think when I did the Ring 24hr. race I ran in A-spec for a couple hours and then let B-spec take over while I slept.

GT4_drifter7
so the 24hour race is actually 24 hours?
No, there's actually three races called '24 hour' races just to get your hopes up.

ERacer has given by far the most sensible answer so far - get two friends and do the race as a team of three, like it's done in real life. Considerably more realistic than just stopping time to wander off and get some sleep, which is what pausing the game amounts to :P

Who would have thought that a 24 hour race actually lasts for 24 hours? What's the world coming to?

Next you'll be telling me that the 200 mile race is actually 200 miles....
