*ALL OF STEALTH'S SUGGESTIONS COMBINED*

Here they are, folks, all of the various suggestions I made in my suggestions threads combined into one mega post. NOTE: every idea with a bold "N" next to it means it has been implemented. ;) There are a lot of ideas here I think are VERY good (with all due modesty), but weren't looked at too carefully, so here you go! Enjoy.

-It seems like the ability to see who is browsing a forum with you is only in certain forums. It might be that it only tells you if there are more than 1 person in the forum (someone besides you). N

-People should, when looking at members profiles, be able to see an archived list with links to all of the threads they started, and there should be an avg. rating for threads they made that were rated.

-Polls shouldn't go to the top of the list of threads because someone votes. What you tend to get is like 10 polls on the top that people are voting on but nothing is being posted, which can be annoying. N

-FREE EMAIL!!!

-More secret eastereggs to peak and rebuild interest from people who have over 1000 posts or just aren't intersted. One of the things, for example, I loved about this site was that you gained status names for posting. There should be other hidden things or abilities that people can gain. It adds to the fun.

-A personal quote field in the member's profile. N

-Spell check for posts

-A customizable smily list for each individual. Each user could take 11 smilies out of the master list and make them quick links on the side, like the current default 11 are. This way if there are some on the main list I use a lot and some on the default quickies I don't, I could switch them. Did that make sense?

-When people have CONFIRMED times on certain courses (confirmed with pictures), have a thing on their profile that lists their best confirmed times. People could send them directly to you or you could devise some other systems. This way people could be "seeded" in intra-GTP competitions.

-A seeding system (see above)

-The "See Today's Active Topics" thing doesn't really work. I don't even really know what it does. It should list the most heavily posted threads of the day, instead, it...it...what DOES it do?

-If you can see what someone is doing in the "Who's Online" thingy, that should be a thing on their profile, too, so when you're viewing their profile you can see where they are.

-Everyone should have the option of the "no-peeking" status in the "Who's Online" thing

-There isn't a blushing smilie even though there's a blushing subject icon. The "O" smilie isn't actually blushing. N

-We need a more comprehensive, all inclusive "strategy" section to help people play the game. We can include prize-car lists, "walkthroughs" for every track as to speed, corners, and how to race them, we can have "tips from the pros", we can even have an individual forum for each of the tracks just for tips.
Anyone else think a strategy section is a good idea?

-Could you put a link to the "Who's Online" thing (where you see what they're doing) up to the top along with the "New Posts", "Active Topics", "Moderators", etc.? N

-I have noticed a sort of problem with the GTP system, and that is that when most people reach 1000 posts their interest and involvement tapers off, because there isn't as much allure to being involved, since you don't gain anything by posting. That's why I think new features for high-posters is a must if you want to keep interest as more and more people reach 1000 posts. If there was more stuff to gain, people (myself included) would visit more often and be more involved. An Idea:
Elite Threads - there could be threads ONLY for people with over certain amounts of posts, for example, a "1000 Post Club", "2000 Post club", etc.
I think the elite club idea is a really good one if you want to keep people interested. I know you don't want to encourage just mindless smilie posting to gain posts, BUT if people have more incentive to post, they will be more involved and have more interesting, provocative conversations!
I hope you consider this...

- there should be an option to have poll results ordered by way of highest votes to least

- a choice of a few fonts (ideas: courier, tahoma, times new roman, something crazy)

- just like images have a "this image has been viewed *#* number of times", there should be "this link has been followed *#* number of times"

- more spots in the top posters thing. add like 5 positions. also, have a member's posts in the last 24 hrs and posts in the last month in the profile!

Rather good idea I think:)

One from me:

Random Smilies in the post window. http://www.gamingforce.com/forums/index.php has it so the 16 smilies that we see in the post window are random everytime you go to post.

EDIT: it didnt want to take the entire quote for some reason...

Excuse me, but this isn't about credit, or WHO came up with the ideas, simply WHAT the ideas are. Secondly, the idea for the customizable smilie list YOU posted over 3 weeks AFTER I posted it in my thread...so let's not try and argue over who gets credit for ideas, because a) it is pointless and childish and b) you're wrong, anyway. ;)

and c) as this is a commercially available bulletin board with cusomizable features, there will (presumably) be little code configuration, just a matter of turning features on/off. So all the ideas you have actually got, were available but just not turned on....

Correct me if I'm wrong :D Having said this, I still think this is one of the best implementations of vBulletin I have seen...

Well, actually, this bb is written in an actual programming language called "PHP". All of the source code is available for editing to the administrators, so they can patch and hack and edit it at will. If the admin. lacks the programming skills to hack it, they can download and install patches in some cases, or just cut and paste code. ;)
