Almost there!!

Hi everyone,

First time posting here on GTP. I'm 90% done the game (played alot when I first got it, but not much in the past 2-3 years because of school and stuff), and all I have left (that I know of) are:

S8 and above license tests
Driving Missions (3 Lap Battles and 1 Lab Magics)
Opel Speedster Race

I haven't spent too much time about the license tests yet because I haven't touched them in a while. But the latter two I need help on:

Driving Missions: Is there some trick I'm not getting? These seem so impossible!!!! Any advice on this would help!!

Opel Speedster Race: I bought the '00 Turbo, tuned it up with everything, and got the R3 racing tires I believe. And still, although it rockets off the starting line, I get passed on braking and turns, and I just can't win. Did I upgrade it too much? What did you guys use?

Thanks for your help!

You'll have the most trouble in Mission 34, guarranted. If you have the NA version it is a bit harder.
I feel bad for saying this but there are some place on the 'Ring where you can take a shortcut on the grass and gain a few seconds.

If you concentrate, be relaxed and focus in one at a time you can do it. And then go to M34:nervous:

All I can say... you should first finish the Super License, THEN do the Opel Speedster Race. The AI uses tuned cars if I recall correctly, so that's why you are getting beaten. However, if you drive fast, and I really mean fast, then you can win it.

What difference does it make if I get the S license first?

And also... should I tune the Opel up all the way, or are there some things better left alone? What tires?

And while we're at it, for license S13 (I believe...the one with the 1lap around Chamonix), anyone have any tips for this? I realized on the driving missions that if you crashed, but with the back of your car hitting the wall, that you dont get the penalty...is there a trick like this for the license tests too?

To win, you need to max almost all upgrades, so go ahead and install all the horsepower you can. The Speedster should have the racing suspension and the custom transmission. Also, have you done the stage 1 and stage 2 weight reductions? The weight reductions make winning easier. And finally, install a wing. The wing's added downforce allows the Opel Speedster to maintain its speed thru the turns. The race can be won in 200 point tune without the wing, but the wing makes winning easier.

Send me a PM if you need the rest of the Speedster's tune.

Good luck,

You made the mistake of buying the Turbo which is quite a lot heavier but not more powerful than the normal model, that's the biggest reason. The following tune (it's a link) can win the cup exactly as posted, including those S3 tyres, but you'll have to drive it pretty hard. R3 tyres can be used.

Hey,

I'm actually in school right now, but all that advice looks really good, I'll try it over the next few days.

But I am confused:

Greycap: You say not to buy the Turbo, but to fit the regular version with a Turbo, correct?

Other than that, thanks for that link...looks really helpful! I never knew the wings were in the game for more-than-just-aesthetic purposes!

Exactly. You get essentially the same power, the difference is small enough to not matter, in a car that weighs significantly less and as you're getting killed in the corners you need the weight advantage more than power. Downforce helps too - that's something your opponents don't have!

The max upgraded NA Version (250HP) equipped with R3 Tyres does very well in this races even with 200 Ballast and no wing.

There´s no need for the Turbo Version ;)

^actually Wing r5's and na tune up and full tuning can yield a 200pt race and its still quite easy as the car accelerates better. (note: this is the na version I am reffering to) I completed the series last nite.

Finished the Speedster race, thanks for all the tips everyone!

Now onto making all my races Gold and finishing up the S license tests and the Driving Missions...I'm pretty sure all my make/model races are done.

wallriding is the way for rally license.. piece of cake, and dont be ashamed, dirt in gt4 is reallyyyyy annoying...

driving mission are just fun, nicest addiction to the gt series, to me.
