Car number 28 with the registration number 8380 GU 76 is one of the six 155 hp A110 1600s works cars that Alpine sent to the 1971 Monte Carlo rally and the driver was Ove "Påven*" Andersson with David Stone as co-driver. Alpine was hungry for the first win and the win they get, they scored even a 1-3 victory with Ove Andersson ahead of Jean-Luc Thérier (2nd) and Jean-Claude Andruet (3rd)!
The victory turned out to be easier than expected and that's because Porsche who did win the previous three years with the 911, did a bad choice and entered with the 914/6 instead. Because of the Mid-engine layout of the 914/6, the car was too difficult to handle on the snowy roads. Another thing that did the victory easier for Alpine was that Sandro Manuri lost time in his Works Lancia Fulvia.

June 11 2008, Ove Andersson died, at the age of 70, in a crash in connection to the Milligan Trial Oldtimer Rally near George in South Africa.
