Alpine A710 W71 Prototype '90

Why I Want This In Gran Turismo:
We need more Alpines. End of story.

From Wikipedia: Between 1989 and 1995, a new Alpine named the A710 "Berlinette 2", was designed and 2 prototypes were built. Due to the cost of the project (600 millions Francs), and as adding modern equipment and interior would compromise the price and performances, the project was canceled.

...Looks slick and fast, but only 140 hp? No wonder it got canned.
Actually, according to this website, it was faster around Renault's test track than the A610:

Yes, the prototype was totally functional. It’s handling was tested and fine tuned on Renault ‘s Aubevoye test center tracks. It’s lap time was better than A610’s lap time, despite inferior engine. If I remember correctly, prototype was fitted with J7R, 2L NA engine 140 HP versus Z7X 2.5L turbo 250 HP for the A610. The first prototype and concept was very light (no AD, no air cond, no ABS…) but later in the project, the marketing asked for a lot of these useless things in this kind of car. Theorical weight and price increased, performance decreased. And the project was finally axed in 1992 or 1993″

-> Here are some more pics that I stumbled, now I'm confused...why? Now, there are 3 license plates!

Car #1 - [3005 BX 90]
Car #2 - [1403 DA 89]
Car #3 - [1990 W 71]

^ Which means, is there a 3rd car?

^ Well, as the saying goes...the more Alpine's the better! All Renault needs to do is to reintroduce these gems! Like what BMW did with that epic M8, E46 M3 Touring, X5 Le Mans, & Ur-Roadster. ;)
