so heres the things... you guys talk about drag racing as if its part of the game?
am i missing something here or is it just a case of pick a track, say 3-2-1 go into a mic and see who wins? is there actually a drag race mode or? im confused...

No, there is not a drag mode. the way it works is You first pick a track You wanna drag on, so if You like top speed and killer acceleration You would go for the tunnel which is SSR7. then You find a decent room and join, now after You line up next to someone You can either go off time or tree, time is where someone puts in the chat box say 45 and then You launch at the same time leaving at the 45th second. Then there is ghost or tree, this when someone drives in front of the two racers lined up and then after a few seconds hits the start button and goes transperant and Thats when You launch. The same applies to pretty much every drag room on all tracks.

Even though we don't have a real drag mode yet, many of us are pulling for it to be included in the future. Vote for it HERE, and you can also vote for a real life drag strip HERE.

i am referring to the method its done, there isn't an official tree to send the cars off, its like someone flagging you down (i.e ghost/tree)

and in real life you cant just randomly drag race in a section of a race track, that would be illegal too lol

If you like acceleration you do the 1/4mile :)

lol don't indy tuners know that acceleration has to be just as good at tunnel? Lol

I know at tunnel you need good acceleration, but you can not say that a tunnel car is as quick accelerating as a 1/4mile car. If so they would be competitive at the 1/4mile and a car behind is not what I call competitive :).

Just put a gtr 1/4mile car vs a gtr tunnel car up against each-other.

Fact is, if you want high speeds you go to tunnel, if you want acceleration you go to 1/4mile.

Tunnel takes a lot more work with the lower power/higher traction cars than Indy does, I'll say that right now.

Indy is simple enough, you want as hard of a launch as possible and as quick of acceleration as possible through the traps.

SSR7 is the same deal over a longer distance. Launch is still god because it's all about average speeds, but it isn't the end of it. If you hit 150 a car ahead of the other guy, it doesn't matter unless you lose less than a car length from there out.

Edit: @eightlives: The GT-R is perhaps the best example of this. It's got masses of traction and enough power to need long gears in the tunnel. From a gearing perspective alone, it's a nightmare in the tunnel, not so much in the 1/4. An ACR would be a fairer fight as there's only so much launch gear it can actually use effectively.
