Greetings good folks of GTP, please help a confused old man. I thought that the course creator was going to allow us to use GPS data to replicate a journey made in reality within the game.

It seems that I've misunderstood something.......................

Cheers, Zo.

Is there a limit on how big the area can be for a GPS file?. Basically I want to know if a track can be as large or larger than Sierra?

You can upload KML/GPX files when you have selected the Eifel Flat map

Ahaa! Thanks. I take it this means that the basic characteristics of the turns and straights of the journey would be plotted, but the topography would be that of the underlying 'map' provided in the game?

Cheers, Zo.

I haven't tried that feature myself, but as I understand it the GPS route you import will be displayed in the background, and then you can trace your track on top of it.

Since the import option is only available on Eifel Flat, the topography will be flat as well.

No, you understood exactly because thats what they said. And that was on their site before but its gone now. So really its just a kindergarteners tracing tool that took 2 years to make.

The track it creates might have very many anchors in, which tends to make a very bumpy track. My advice would be to import the data, save the track, then duplicate it and work on the duplicate. Try taking out every other anchor, watching if it drastically changes the layout or not. Use the undo feature if you're not happy and try deleting the next anchor along. You'll soon get the hang of what combos work. When you test drive the track, if there are problem areas, then you can focus on adjusting those next with more deletions or other editing.

Good luck!

Thanks Venari. I have to say that the created tracks I have tried which I'm finding most interesting are the hilly ones. It's making me wonder more real life circuits aren't built on relatively bumpy ground. To be fair, it's probably because every time I leave the circuit and fly into a barrier I just reset, in real life it's a bit more complicated than that.

Cheers, Zo.
