I'm having a bit of trouble getting gold on Sector's 2, 3 and 4 of AMG driving academy beginner. I got gold on Sector 1, and I've watch many videos on Youtube on how to do it.

The only problem is that I'm terrible at Manual, Driving and braking with the right analog stick.

Anyone know the best settings that will make my car go faster then it normaly does?

Then go and drive automatic.

Steer with the left stick or d-pad and use the right stick , X and Square or the L and R Buttons for Throttle and break.

You are just going to have to practice. Believe me there is no other way. I had to go back 3-4 times. Each time I left it was because I didn't think it was possible for me to do it. Then I saw the prize, Annweiler Winter, and I went and worked on it until I got it. It took almost two hours.

To back up what raVer said, use whatever control setup works best for you. Personally I have never been able to get my head around accel/brake with the right stick either, I use R2/L2 for these jobs. Using the left stick for steering will give you better control than the D-pad, but again, if you cant get your head (fingers) around that, then stick with the directional buttons.

After that, it is just practice. You already have one gold, so you have the skill to get the rest once you get used to the track.

P.S. Anyone thinking of posting "get a wheel" can leave now.

Wheel said

I have a wheel and I have had huge troubles with the series so I have left it for ages, I reckon I might get back on to it though, it sure is not easy though.

The Nordschleife is a very complex track. Each section in the AMG event is longer than most other tracks in the game. The final straight alone is longer than Tsukuba.

Everybody who finds it easy spent a long long time when they found it very hard. A lot of the time you spend driving there you tend to be just concentrating on getting around the track without killing yourself. That's not quite good enough for the sector challenges, you have to get the line right and push a bit to gold them. When you're doing the rain events, all you need to do is keep it pointed in the right direction and you get gold, so it's not all bad.

Just keep at it, then give it a rest, then try some more.

I've got gold on Sector 2, but I find Sector 3 to be more harder then Sector 2.

👍👍 Good stuff. Keep at it. There are a couple of places in the 3rd and 4th sectors where a slightly different line saves quite a bit of time. Over time you will work out where these spots are and then wonder why it took you so long to complete it. Very satisfying when you get there though, especially the wet events later on.

I've recently golded these. I used MT, everything off except ABS set to 1. In my mind, MT makes it a lot easier (when you shift to the rev limiter). Sector 2 was the hardest one for me.

As the car is older and less powerful than most, you have to concentrate on maintaining speed through the corners. Often it's better to brake earlier for a corner, and accelerate through the corner gaining exit speed, this is especially true for any corners leading up a hill, as the car takes that much longer to gain speed up a hill, it's best to hit the crest with as much speed as possible, sacrificing corner speed for straight line speed is key.

Driving older/slower cars requires a different technique to more powerful cars, less on the late braking, concentrate on maintaining momentum.

The car has enough power to wheelspin out of corners especially the corner before and out of the carousel. ;)

I did it in AT, all AT from Beginner to Advanced. Like some have said, use the setup that works for you (DS3 usage) as that usually doesn't matter too much.

The true key is turning off all of the aids aside from ABS. You cannot have any loss of speed with the old Gullwing. The TCS, ASM, and Active Steering will usually make you lose time, not gain it on tests like these.

If the OP has already done this, then you need to start braking earlier. You know the saying "early to rise..."? This works for racing. If you brake early enough you have the car pointed, slow enough, and you can put the accelerator down sooner on exit. That is key through the complex sections after Kallenhard, Karoussell, and through the Wipperman complex.

So true, I was 1 1/2 seconds from gold and found two areas with a different line and I got gold by 1 1/2 seconds. The lines are there, and they are probably different for different people, but they are there you just need to go find them.

I just golded all these just so I could get the photo location - my tip would be to ride the kerbs and in the final sector, really push into the last bend before the long straight. My guess is you can always make it a little faster than you think, and it really pays off in terms of time on that section.
