an idea i had for gt

Whiles playing GT yesterday, an interesting thought came to me.

There could be a deeper simulation aspect to the game, where races were like seasons, seasons in NAASCAR if you will, and you would do a race a week, or every two weeks. you would move from the ranks till you became the best. Possibly from barebones track meets where you used your own car that you bought, to the top where there would be a formula-one type setting. You'd gain sponsorships and what not.

Taking it a step further, it could be an online feature. but you would have to qualify for the online leadue, since there are countless fans of Gran Turismo, but it would be some logical way of choosing peopel for the online league. It would be the same as the offline league but online.

That's not a half bad idea, but I think it kinda changes the entire tone of the game, which is exactly what PD doesn't want to do. If they could take the GT engine and make a seperate game off of it, I think that would be a very good basis for it.

The only fallacy I can see with this sort of idea is that Gran Turismo was more about taking your car and winning race after race. You don't really get a feel as to building up a car to race in a season with big name racers in it. I'm okay with this because Gran Turismo is about taking a car and acheiving greatness. I'm not expecting to have an MKIV Toyota Supra and go from showroom stock Supra all the way up to the Super GT Supras. Gran Turismo never was really about being dedicated to one such season, so I don't think the idea would really benefit in the GT universe. This is even though the GT World Championship is the signature race series of Gran Turismo.

For this to work, GT would have to make you commit to a certain series and keep racing that deal until you're ready to leave it all for another series. I love Gran Turismo, but I'm not really going to sit through season after season trying to complete the game. Because to me, when I'm done with a series, I jump into another. You win the title or clear the series, you move on. That's how I do it. So while an interesting idea, I don't think it will work too well.

That sounds pretty decent. It'll take a while for the game to complete too and it'll be more realistic. But instead of focusing on this, horses, and Escalades, PD should focus on the cars and tracks of the game. This is almost perfect. I play this game every day as if I just got it. I'm sure most people here do the same.

This is one of the better threads I have read in the GT4 forum today...
