I'm sure you've all seen this image, since it is posted quite frequently in the C&G forum. Basically, it shows the most notable coupes of the 80's in the same color, and they all are supposed to look similar to each other.

To make things interesting, lets analyze the picture and really pick out the differences of these cars. I'd like you to answer the following questions:

1. Which coupe is the most unique or different in your opinion, blending in the least?

2. Which coupe looks the most fun to drive?

3. Which coupe is the worst, or the biggest heap of junk?

4. Which coupe is your guilty pleasure?

5. Which coupe would you buy if you were forced to buy just one? (in the poll)

Thank you. I'm looking forward to seeing some interesting replies.

1. The Escort RS Turbo because it is not actually a coupe. 💡

2. The Saleen Mustang

3. Whatever is on the bottom right

4. Mitsubishi Starion, reminds me of the XRT from Live For Speed (A game I used to play a lot back in the day)

5. The AE86.

1. The 928. Strays the furthest from straight lines. The first-gen RX-7 also isn't nearly as similar to the rest as the second-gen RX-7 is.
2. The Corolla.
3. The Daytona, I suspect.
4. The Camaro. Always thought they looked neat.
5. The Corolla again.

1. 928
2. SA22 RX7
3. Camaro/Mustang
4. 928
5. I had a 200SX as my spiritual first car--it was technically my second car but it was the first I hand-picked to purchase--and have since sought a replacement that's in decent condition (I don't need a project), so no arm-twisting necessary. Had a 944 as well, and enjoyed it as well, but I'd still take the Nissan.

Why am I not the least bit surprised an AE86 is (and will likely remain) the most desired (note the wording, as I don't see how it's the least bit desirable)?

The Prelude and Integra sold well enough to be invited too. The Beretta and Grand Am were everywhere back then also, not to mention the G bodies, if accord fits, they fits. E30 sadly didn't get invited either, or Subaru XT6, or 300ZX 2+2, or many other notable 2 door sedan/coupes.

With what's on the table here though...

1. Porsche 928
2. Porsche 944
3. Iron Duke Camaro
4. Starion
5. RX7 to replace my derelict '93 Mustang as a future project car.

The G-Bodies were two door sedans. The Monte Carlo Aeroback and the Grand Prix equivalent can eke by as coupes, but the Regal and etc.? Not remotely the same as the things in the OP.

I know they are sedans, as is the Accord except the hatchback version. I was just pointing it out, otherwise B bodies can come too.

1. 928. '90s curves on a car that preceded the boxy styling prevalent here.

2. 944

3. Daytona. More so visually than the later '87 model, which would have blended in a lot better with most of the other cars in AllSome80scoupeHatchbacks.jpg.

4. Mustang. Saleen or otherwise.

5. 928

This looks like a little fun.

1. Escort EX3i. Proportions are notably different to my eyes.

2. FB RX-7. It just looks more fun than the FC

3. Dodge Daytona. Chrysler Corp cars in the 80's may as well have been sold to junk yards directly.

4. Mitsubishi Starion. It starts with the name, and goes through the details.

5. If I'm forced to buy one, the Starion. If I had to pay IRL, Camaros are cheap.

1. Definitely the Porsche 928. This and the Lamborghini Miura have some pretty freaking unique headlights.

2. The Starion. Just so over the top compared to the rest.

3. Dodge Daytona, because if it's an 1980's Chrysler, it's automatically "trash".

4. Dodge Daytona, because it's the only car i'd be guilty to be seen in.

5. I'd choose either a Camaro IROC-Z or a Corolla AE86.

1. The 928, because curves.

2. The SA22 RX-7. Long bonnet, short backside but doesn't overdo the curves like the 928. Sells the fact it's a FR layout the best in my opinion.

3. The S12 Silvia. It isn't a heap of junk of course but in my opinion it looks the most pedestrian, and that's saying something next to the Accord Coupe.

4. I wouldn't feel guilty in any of them except for the Dodge and I feel like I'd derive no pleasure from the Dodge so I'd say none.

5. Umm, any of them? I've always had a soft spot for the Celica Supra though so I'll go that.

1. The 944, because its B pillar and rear side window are unique here.

2. Tough call between the RX-7s and 944. The SA wins on purity, the FC is probably the most well-put-together, while the 944 has that "Porsche magic".

3. The A70 Supra. The Daytona might be junkier, but I suspect it would be more fun to thrash.

4. The Accord, which is kind of how it ended up making it into this lineup.

5. The 944. Aside from getting myself back into an E30, it's the other piece of '80s German metal I would love to own someday.

1. Porsche 928

2. Mazda RX-7 FC

3. Dodge Daytona

4. Mitsubishi Starion

5. Mazda RX-7 FC

... where's the C4 Vette? Not that I'd ever want one, but it's missing.

1. Which coupe is the most unique or different in your opinion, blending in the least?
Starion. Seems to be a car that, while everyone knows it's cool, is always the last to be remembered.

2. Which coupe looks the most fun to drive?
"Looks"? Well, they all look the same, I think that was the point of the collage. But I suppose the Camaro and Starion look that bit more aggressive than the rest.

3. Which coupe is the worst, or the biggest heap of junk?
Again, they all look equally dated. The Accord and S12 have the tamest styling. The 928's always looked goofy to me. But I suppose the Daytona's my least favorite on the board.

4. Which coupe is your guilty pleasure?
I'm not ashamed of liking any of them. But it's no secret that I'm big on Hondas, so despite being FWD, I definitely wouldn't mind building an Accord even though I'd much rather own almost all of the other cars first.

5. Which coupe would you buy if you were forced to buy just one? (in the poll)
Tough between the Starion and Mustang, but I suppose - me always being kinda biased towards Ford - the Mustang edges it.

1. Which coupe is the most unique or different in your opinion, blending in the least?
928 for sure. It's soft and rounded compared to the other cars here being so angular.
2. Which coupe looks the most fun to drive?
Of what I have driven on the list, I know the SA22 is the right answer. I'd like to try the 944.
3. Which coupe is the worst, or the biggest heap of junk?
S12 hands down. My friend was always working on his. Limited parts availability doesn't help.
4. Which coupe is your guilty pleasure?
Camaro. I had a '92 and kinda miss it.
5. Which coupe would you buy if you were forced to buy just one?
Voted 928 before I noticed the SA22. Early carb'd models are just so much fun.

1. Which coupe is the most unique or different in your opinion, blending in the least?
Aside from the Escort, which is a 3-door hatchback not a coupe as already mentioned, the 928 is a lot less blue-collar than the rest.

2. Which coupe looks the most fun to drive?
The 944 was rated as one of the very best front-engined, rear wheel drivers, so i'd hop into that first given the chance.

3. Which coupe is the worst, or the biggest heap of junk?
Can't say the Accord excites me much.

4. Which coupe is your guilty pleasure?
i've always had a soft spot for the later fox body Mustangs.

5. Which coupe would you buy if you were forced to buy just one? (in the poll)
Would have to choose the 928. It's the only one that i'd part money for.

1. Which coupe is the most unique or different in your opinion, blending in the least?
The 928 is a rounder shape in a sea of angles.

2. Which coupe looks the most fun to drive?
Mustang

3. Which coupe is the worst, or the biggest heap of junk?
Daytona

4. Which coupe is your guilty pleasure?
Despite their well-earned reputation, I like third-gen Camaros. Can't help it.

5. Which coupe would you buy if you were forced to buy just one? (in the poll)
Definitely the SA/FB RX-7.

I didn't post my answers to these questions before, because I simply didn't notice them. Those cars I listed before are my top 5 coupes that I liked out of the image above.

1. Which coupe is the most unique or different in your opinion, blending in the least?
Like others have said, the Porsche 928.

2. Which coupe looks the most fun to drive?
The Toyota Corolla GT-S actually, I really am itching try an AE86.

3. Which coupe is the worst, or the biggest heap of junk?
Well, I'm going to say the Dodge Daytona after all I've heard from Chrysler during the 80s.

4. Which coupe is your guilty pleasure?
The 3rd Generation Chevrolet Camaro.

5. Which coupe would you buy if you were forced to buy just one? (in the poll)
The 1993 Ford Mustang Cobra in the picture, I really want to own a 1993 Cobra some day, though preferably in teal.

1. Which coupe is the most unique or different in your opinion, blending in the least?
The Porsche 928.

2. Which coupe looks the most fun to drive?
The Mustang.

3. Which coupe is the worst, or the biggest heap of junk?
The Daytona.

4. Which coupe is your guilty pleasure?
Definitely the Escort.

5. Which coupe would you buy if you were forced to buy just one?
The RX-7 (1st).
