It appears that the Angry Birds phenomena will take its war against the hideous army of stationary green pigs to a theater near you. The game's creators, Rovio Entertainment have hired producers for what will be a 3D computer-generated full-length film.

After an explosion of merchandise and even a union with the monolithic Star Wars brand, Rovio's app-attacking avians will have the summer of 2016 targeted for their inevitable collision with the big screen...

It better have good humour, because I don't think I'd be able to take an Angry Birds film all that seriously.

What the... How the...

OK. So basically, 90 minutes of birds flinging themselves at pigs. How is there even going to be a plot? Or anything vaguely interesting?

This is just pushing the popularity of it way too far. They should have stopped with just the expansions. How did it gain popularity anyway?

I saw an article about this movie and im just groaning about how bad I think this will be.

I think Angry Birds Space is a cool game, but never liked any of the others. Yet to try Angry Star Birds though. ;)

The differences between the various offerings is what keeps me playing and the inevitable product tie ins I'm fine with. A movie, however, and one that's not supposed to come out for three years, is a bit much.

Dual release with Star Wars Episode VII, perhaps? :dopey:

My thoughts exactly; this sounds more like a direct-to-download type of thing (although like the game, perhaps you'll see just 20 minutes at a time; available every two months or so?)

With how absurd people seem to think this idea is, they must be imagining an R-rated "serious" Angry Birds movie for adults (perhaps with Nicholas Cage playing the leading bird). Obviously it would be a kids movie, and I think Angry Birds is pretty decent material for basing one of those off of.

The idea makes sense. However, waiting until 2016 (when Angry Birds' popularity will almost certainly have died down significantly) does not.

Yeah, more or less @Lain. Ever notice how quick fads die off? Take the DS for example: it used to be HUGE. Now it's less huge, but still noticeable. In 3 years? The DS will be gone. Angry birds. Used to be huge. Less huge now, but still pretty big. In three years, all the kids who cared about angry birds won't want to see the movie, and the kids who care about angry birds would rather just play angry birds to begin with.

What kind of movie is this? ... Indecipherable... Is this an animated movie or cartoon movie? If it is then I don't want to watch it. I like horror and action movies because Horror is my favorite genre and I like it too much.

How would they even make an Angry Birds horror film?

They walk into the bright green fields full of bright green pig like blobs and see all sorts of horrible horror things like bloodied red birds stapled on the wall in which you can't actually tell they're bloodied birds because the bird itself was originally red anyway, the Green pigs are actually axe weilding maniacs who do homicidal maniac things such as, snort, and get beaten up by very... VERY angry birds on a regular basis... I'm 🤬 scared. :P

Sorry, I couldn't resist... Angry birds II: The revenge of the bright green pigs!

I can't have an opinion on this actually. I feel like there is nothing there to hate (except for the idea in the first place), nothing to like nor nothing to say meh or it's so bad it's good.

...Looks colorful, so kids will love this. Other than that...
