Well I have just discovered sim racing and found it interesting and realistic. I have been a racer all my life, from go karts, drag racing, boat racing, motorcycles, and loved it all. Since I am getting well up in my years I hope that this could give me some of the great times I have enjoyed in racing in the past. The Gt5 program is quite daunting and found immediately I could not even consider licensing let alone race with the ps3 controller. I have just ordered a Fanatec csl elite wheel, the new v2 club sport pedals and the csl sim seat, along with the fanatec shifter kit. Hope that will work for me. I am from Sebring, Fl. and live only a mile or two from the track. I have a antique 65 Mclaren DB5 that I have owned for ten years. I also still love motorcycles and still drive a Campagna T-Rex. At 70 years old I still love speed. Any tips that anyone can give me to help enjoy this program will be greatly appreciated.

:sly:Welcome to GTPlanet and you should have seen the "Old Man Dust" :ouch:flying out of my PC when I opened this thread.

Race with us, online. We'll help you get set up with some pretty quick competition, if you'd like.

Otherwise, make sure to never do the same thing twice. I, a 19 year old, would likely be dead before running out of things to do on GT5. :scared:

Welcome to GTPlanet, sir. I hope you enjoy your stay - there are many older folk here (no, Jay Leno and Parnelli Jones don't come around too often, though :) , but in fact there is, I believe, an over 40 club kicking around somewhere in the depths of this planet.

However - you may have to clear up this little blooper here, (bolded in quote) before you regain your credibility - and I can tell you - credibility is something that is vitally important around here.

Until, then, best wishes, and hoping you are really enjoying the Gran Turismo series as much as we all at GTPlanet are.

I wish I had a McLaren DB5.

Imagine, the awesome looks of '60s Aston Martin, and '60s McLaren, together, in one car... Wow.

*insert photo of Aston Martin with photoshopped Formula 1 wing*

P.S., I'll gladly shut up, if 747 comes back.
