Hi all. Curiosity made me ask this :P

Besides myself, have we got any Cadets on the Forums?
You can be ex-Cadets, or current, and it doesn't matter if you're Army, Air, Sea Cadets ect.

Let's just post stuff about our good times in Cadets! :D

So for myself as a starting point. I am a member of the Air Cadets, and have been officially since October 10th 2011. I haven't attended any Swynnerton camps, annual or overseas camps. I obtained my Squadron Marksman badge in November 2012. I'm in charge of Sporting activities which we do on my Squadron. Last year I won Gold and Bronze in the Regional Athletics competition (gold in high jump, bronze in the relay). So that'll be it for me for now. :)

I was a boy Scout. :D Learnt all kind of cool stuff like how to camp, fish, make fires, first aid, kayak, abseil and stuff like that. Not quite cadets but I was too young for cadets so joined boy Scouts instead. 1st Marks Gate my group was called.

Ex-army cadet here.

I've been to Strensall Barracks twice on camp, once as a Basic and once as a 1 Star. The second time it was a Fieldcraft training weekend where we were supposed to be living under ponchos for the whole weekend, however it rained heavily all weekend, the field got flooded and then struck by lightning so we had to go back inside. I injured my knee pretty badly on said camp which resulted me in having to leave the ACF a few months after. I've also won three medals in athletics, two silvers for 100m sprint and a bronze for 200m sprint.

I do miss it, and I had some good times there, but I just don't have the time for it anymore, plus I can no longer do any of the crawls with my knee.

I have been considered a space cadet on occasion.

Sounds like you had some good times. :) Shame to hear about your knee. One of my friends broke her arm a few days before Easter Swynnerton, so obviously she couldn't go.

I think that could apply to a few of us. :P

Was in the Cadets at school for a year and a bit, then I quit. Got to go on a few camps though and I was a damn good shot with the .22 and L96 cadet rifle, or so I was told.

I had to wear an eye-patch when shooting . I'm left eye dominant because I can barely see anything out of my right eye, even with glasses on, yet I'm right handed so I couldn't swap sides. Trouble is, that meant I couldn't see the target because I was looking at it with my right eye. Still, got better groupings than anyone else anyway. :sly:

Like a boss.
I had fun when we got to the simulation range, and they projected enemies onto the screen for us to shoot at, managed to flip my rifle into full auto from semi auto (don't ask me how, I've no idea, and neither did the officers there) and fire away. Had a few jealous classmates after that one...

Haha I can imagine!
