I've always loved creating my own liveries in other games. Unfortunately GTS and 7 still don't have the very basic function of grouping decals, which makes creating liveries from shapes extremely (and unnecessarily) tedious. So, I have to go the SVG route. My biggest issue has always been I don't have a PC. So I'm using my phone. I'm also not good at any sort of freehand, especially on my phone.

I'm wondering if anyone knows a simple way to convert images to SVG. There used to be a website I'd use, but it wasn't mobile friendly. And I don't remember it. So if anyone has any suggestions, I'm all ears. I'd prefer to do work myself if I can.

And here's hoping PD add the ability to group! They've said there are updates coming, so maybe!

Converting any bitmap image to a vector with such tools will almost always end up in a messy looking file that's way too big in file size for GT. There sadly is a plethora of auto traced junk out in GTS and GT7 and it baffles me how people think that's acceptable quality :D

Without a dedicated vector creating programme you can't really do anything except for relying on other people to make decals you'd need.
However, any PC/laptop should be able to run Inkscape or similar programmes, so if you really want to get into it maybe there's some used/older tech available for cheap locally, I know thrift stores that sell ready to use PCs/laptops for very little money.

It works perfectly on my S20.
I requested some svg's and downloaded them on my phone, and had no issue oploading either.

Tired converting them png to svg and then uploaded them fine on my profile on the gt page ... but not got home to the ps4 to see if there on there to see if they work.
Had it before where there just blank

I’ve used Vectornator app on iPad with good success, maybe it’s also available for phones
+1, best free iOS vector generator (also on iPhone) I’ve come across, not perfect but free, so… scanning seems to have improved recently too (for converting pixel/bitmap image files to vector image files)

My laptop died (taking my backup disk and 3 years of decals and fonts with it), I miss some Inkscape functions (skew, group and centre, distribute) and it can be difficult to edit imported svgs, but in some ways it is a lot quicker, and gradients are a lot easier to get working. I did dabble with online converters for pixel image to svg, but without an editing tool the files are usually too big (even with SVGOMG to reduce the size) for GT. As @foxdylan has found, without an editor it is difficult to know whether the online conversion created actual svg vector information, or just an svg file with an embedded pixel image (which will display in browsers but will not display in GT)

Basically I have had almost no success with online pixel to vector image conversion for GT.

BTW Convert.io is my favourite free online converter, but there is a difference between image conversion as in scanning a pixel image to create a vector image (e.g. png to svg) which it won’t do, and file format conversion, i.e. from one vector format to another e.g. eps to svg. There are guides on here in the GTS section explaining why pixel images are different to vector (which I’m too lazy to find (sorry) :) It’s probably in here somewhere :

If you’re on iOS you can use Vectornator to create and export SVG files. To convert images to SVG files there several websites that do it, like convertio.co, vectorizer.io, autotracer.org, etc.

Personally I just use Affinity Designer on a computer because working with vector files with your fingers ain’t that fun.
