I'm 14 and currently competitively sail 420's.
Second year in 420s.
Like them sooooo much more than the Opti's.
I enjoy crewing more than skipper, just because the trap is awesome. ;)
I do mostly team racing, but a regatta once in a blue moon.

So, does anyone else sail much?

I used to go to a rich ass yacht club. I was put in 420's at first (🤬 loved it). Then they put my in a 🤬 ass Opti, let's just say I've had enough "sailing". I went to my first regatta got 3rd! After that I sucked so bad it was hopeless. The last time I ever sailed was in a Hobbie Cat (really easy and quite different believe it or not). But now a days I just stick to playing Paintball. I would rage when something in the sail boat wasn't correct (judging it's a sail boat hardly anything goes your way. Wind, sail, and such). So because I would come back with rage and fits, I just stick to paintball.

I don't want to put you in a bad mood or whatever, so I guess, keep doing it if you're good at it (that way it's actually enjoyable). Otherwise move on like I did, trust me I don't have the best memories.

I'm actually pretty bad lol.
I don't know if it's me, or my skipper.
I came in second in the only Opti regatta I did.
But, I finished dead last in the 420 regatta. :ouch:
Thats probably because my skipper wanted to stay in for half the races.
But whatever.
I really just enjoy the cruising around, not the racing lol.

Yep, I've been out sailing a few times on Hobie cats. My dental hygenist has a Hobie 18, and I've raced (for fun with my friends) Hobie Waves around this little lake that my school owns. Sailing the ocean is so much more fun, but it's scary as hell to launch at first with all the waves coming at you.
