This is for those interested in Playseat Evo comparisons. both seats are at default height. I can tell you the rseat is a whole lot better IMHO. Unfortunately, The pre-drilled holes didn't match up to fit my CSR Elite (w/ bracket) so I'm just going to take Snotty's advice and drill the triangular holes to fit it w/out the bracket. I contacted rSeat for this particular issue and hopefully they will send me another one before I drill. Despite the issue, I still enjoy the rSeat much better than the Playseat. Finally no center post and the pedal plate angling is beast!

These two pictures below have the Playseat cushion on the rSeat. As with Lopsided said, I too would highly recommend it. It makes it 14 and a half times more comfortable. It's also probably the cheapest high-density foam you can find in this shape. It may not be tight fitted, but you will definitely not notice it when sitting. Also, the cusion doesn't match the seat because I have the alcantara version, but you can buy the leather cushion online for 30 bucks.

Lovely pics. 👍

I guess i'll have to get me some new foam for the cushion if it's really that bad. But no big deal.

1) ...at highest settings (top holes), about 12" off the ground...then again, I added more padding. Lowest settings, subtract about about an inch.

2) just shy of 23 inches

This is for those interested in Playseat Evo comparisons....

Thanks much for the information mikochu, and zenkis14!!!
I guess my biggest concerns now are my size (6.2FT/195LBS/34" waist), and the current height of my flat screen.

The reason I asked for the seat and wheel support plate height is because my 37" Sony flatscreen sits on a stand that is 22" high, changing the height will be a major headache because the stand also houses my home theater setup.

My current setup is a Rennsport Wheel Stand set at lowest height, and a separate car seat from a '91 CRX Si that sits 6" off the floor.

Also, I stumbled across this video review of the rSeat Evo 2, the reviewer echoed what others have said on this thread regarding the lower seat cushion, but that appears to be easily fixed.

Pardon the link, could not figure out how to embed it.

You might be fine with your TV height. I have a 32" LCD on top of a 20" table (IKEA Lack side table) that I have a foot or two away from my face. I recently bought a monitor stand to raise it, but it's 5.5" higher now. I'm content with it, but an inch or so lower would be ideal. Also, I'd get some 2" cushion foam at a fabric store and cut them to size for each of the cushions. They might look weird when you stuff them, but they'll look better after a few sessions.

Thanks, sounds as if my 37" LCD is at the perfect height (The LCD's lower frame sits about 24" off the floor including the Home Theater Stand, and the LCD's base). I sit about 3.5 ft from the LCD now, and that will not change with the rSeat, because I cannot put the pedals under the LCD in the Home Theater Stand.

Thanks for the foam info, I think lopsided also made mention of the same.

My set up is almost identical to mikochu. 32" on IKEA Lack table. Using an RSeat My pedals are below the table and my TV sits on the front edge. Had nothing else to raise it so it currently sits on my tool box.
Probably gonna buy the RSeat monitor stand which should make the whole thing look more unified. But it will also move the screen at least another foot backwards. just hope it will give me also a chance to mount my PS3 on that stand somehow.

All set to get my rSeat this Friday. I cant not tell you how happy I am with the whole buying process from rSeat. For a start up operation in the USA they are doing an increadible job with coming up to speed so quickly. This is going to be one sick rig! Fanatec CSR elite wheel, CSR elite pedels, CSR shifter on one of the best sub 1k rigs available.

P.S. Dimetrie (rSeat) GREAT job!

Blade, I am seeing you all over the internet. What a small community we have here. I should be receiving mine Friday as well, the problem being, though, that its signature required and I'll be at work all day!!!

It seems that a lot of people are getting their rSeats before this weekend, I'm truly happy for you guys, you are getting a really nice cockpit.

spinkick,
glad to see you around here as well, hope we can discuss your rig and your setup when you get it. By the way, we are planning to host a race tomorrow and maybe tonight, so if you are interested let us know at below site in chit chat section of the forum.

Mine is 30 kilometers at best from my home now so I will indeed get it.

Morning by the way. Reason I am awake already? I can't sleep much due to excitement. Heh

Yeah, the race will be at the usual time I reckon. Around 8pm GMT+1. At least that is when we usually start and then end normally somewhere towards 12pm.
I'll be there once I get my rig setup which will be here by 7pm at the latest.

Edit: just checked again and it is "Out for Delivery" :dopey:
I better get my soar ass (due to cleaning the room for today) out of bed and warm up my muscles as according to UPS it weighs 32kg. Yikes!

Has anyone hooked a Buttkicker up to their rSeat yet?

Since Gamer 2s are impossible to get hold of, I've recently bought a 'Pearl Throne Thumper' (made by Buttkicker), which is larger seat post mounted drum-centric unit putting out about 200w, and I'm finding that the rSeat mount is rather under-secured, leading to an off-putting mechanical type rattling.

http://www.pearldrum.com/Products/Electronic-Drums/Throne-Thumper.aspx

I was just wondering if anyone had tried an existing Gamer 2 with theirs and whether they'd found that the smaller unit worked a little better...?

Interesting...maybe I'll pick one up at Best Buy after work. Do you know where the rattling is coming from? Maybe you have to isolate it somehow?

yeah, I tried that.

I undid the rSeat post and stuck a fair bit of electrical tape between where the post meets the rig. But this had little effect.

It's really irritating, especially since I've spent even more bucks on some XP500s and a switching box to make this whole stealth system work...

Maybe use rubber/plastic washers on all the bolts? I'd guess either the cross-beam or seat bolts are causing the rattle.

Also, watching reviews on youtube, even the gamer 2 seems like it causes rattle. Can you post a video?

In addition, someone said they have to lean back in the seat to prevent some rattle...

Snotgobbler,

I picked up a Throne Thumper and set it up on the rSeat (piston on the inside). I think the rattle you're complaining about is going to happen, as there is a piston that moves to produce the tactile feedback. One of the helo simulators I work on uses Aura shakers and it's gives off a similar sound even hardmounted to the cockpits. I don't notice the racket when I have my headphones on...however, it's there. I feel if you try to deaden it, it'll just take away from the experience. I'll play with it a bit more, but I doubt silencing completely is possible.

Logi, keep the updates coming! Did it arrive? :D

It did... I am writing this after a couple of hours with a sleepy head (due to being all excited and thus getting little sleep).

I got over excited and had the wrong expectations at first but after some getting used to and fiddling a bit more I am very happy with it.

Read about it here as I am too tired to type it all again (and every post I made there today): http://www.simology.co/general-discussion/re-chit-chat/Page-18?Itemid=0#705

Pics at the moment of writing this are broken, i'll have ilonioum check that out.

Hey, thanks a million for the input.

Happily, I've now managed to sort the problem...

Where I live in the UK is very close to the main Buttkicker distributer and, because he'd never seen the Pearl kit before, he came over to check out the unit and also to see if he could sort the problem. He also brought the only new Gamer 2 left in the country over to test that too (It's not for sale, before anyone asks).

Anyway, here's what we found...

Both Gamer 2 and the Thumper caused the annoying vibrating, but by adding 8 little rubber bungs (Buttkicker Part #RI-K28) the problem went away.

They have screw holes in the middle of them and these clever little removable plastic caps that you can place over the bottom sides should you need to slide the seat about.

What you wanna do is ditch the small plastic rSeat caps under the seat and bolt 4 of these in.

You can probably take the plastic cap off the C clamp and do the same here twice (2 rSeat caps). For the pedal plate, access doesn't allow you to use a bolt or washer, but, to be honest, a bit of double-side should keep these in place.

Just now, none of mine are bolted but just slipped under, and the difference it makes is remarkable.

There is still a tiny rattle, which is hard to isolate, but it comes from a tensioning spring at the front underside of the seat. All you need to do there is stick a bit of sponge/an old dishcloth between this and the seat and, Bob's your aunty... no more unwanted noise.

I'm now back in love with my Pearl Throne Thumper. It's a little more expensive than the Gamer 2, but, having tried them both, feels 3x as powerful.

Definitely recommended.

(cheapest I could find, but check you don't need a UK transformer...)

Snottgobbler,

Is your rSeat on a hard floor or carpet?

Also, how is your audio output setup? Are you using an LFE/Sub Out from an amp or are you tapping into your audio-out on your tv/console? I need to go to an electronics store (Radioshack) and pick up some supplies to make a Stereo to Mono adapter with some 10k ohm resistors so I can output both L and R audio output to the thumper. Also, what settings are you using on the thumper amp?

Thanks!

My rSeat's on a hessian carpet.

But don't even ask about my audio setup. Okay...

...360 and PS3 set to multi-out to a surround amp via HDMI (with sound). Additionally, the AV out cable from the PS3 and the Official (important) Xbox Audio Adapter Cable going to a switcher box...

http://www.shoptronix.com/Nyrius-SW201-HD-Ready-Component-Video/M/B000B525DY.htm

...then from there to the Buttkicker via one of these:

http://www.maplin.co.uk/2-phono-to-1-4-stereoadaptor-991

The switcher is cool, coz I ALSO use it to switch from Xbox and PS3 optical leads and output to a XP500 headphone base unit.

So, with one touch of the remote, the voice chat and audio changes from one console to the other, as does the Buttkicker, and I don't need to touch any of the cables. Naturally, though, the whole switcher box bit is unnecessary if you only have one console or LIKE switching cables...

Setting-wise, I was told by the BK rep that you want to keep the Lowpass Filter down (1/3rd) and keep volume about halfway, according to taste.

The Throne Thumper is quite powerful, if isolated right, and after a while I'm told you'll actively WANNA turn it down.

Have you tested it in Forza? Do the rumble strips on the left and right feel the same? As in stereo? I assumed the Pearl thumper amp was mono. I know the cable that it comes with is mono. Right now, I have it only connected to the left channel using that XBOX audio adapter.

Do the rumble strips on the left and right feel the same?

I HAVE tested it with Forza, but, frankly, it doesn't matter whether you're running it through a 99.1 surround sound system - you only have 1 transducer(!), so it won't give you directional rumble.

That said, your brain sort of tricks you in to thinking the left-hand rumbles are coming from the left, and visa-versa...

Well, If it's outputting the signal from the left channel, you'll feel the whatever the left tires are driving over. Whatever the right tires are driving over will be a bit muted. I think I'm going to build that Stereo to Mono adapter using 10k ohm resistors...so I'll feel the rumbles from both left and right tires.

This is just my overview of the rSeat Evo V3 and I also compare how it's different from the V2. rSeat's customer service is outstanding. They took care of the wheel plate issue I was having. Enjoy!

Nice video. I found that for the heavy pedals of the T500 you need to make it really tight, else the whole pedal plate comes down when slamming the brakes. I use the brake mod on my pedals. I already squished the original plastic washers. I grabbed some nylon ones instead from the hardware store that seem to be much stronger. I was thinking of maybe looking for a hard rubber washer instead and see how that holds up. I think the rubber being strong, elastic and having a lot of grip would make it all more snug.

Anyway, after installing the nylon ones the plate stays up.

Everyone agrees on the seat cushion. I will get some decent foam at a specialist here soon. I am sure he can cut it to fit properly. :)

Awesome post! Thanks for sharing! Very informative and helped me decide, have been sitting on the fence.

As for the seat foam, I have been think that maybe a car upholstery shop would be able to cut high density foam to fit with no problem. They usually have it on hand to do repairs, and reconstruction of seats.
