Any tips for Drifting w/the driving force gt?

Tried it...gave up...switched to DS3. You just can't turn the wheel fast enough to keep the car under control...or at least I can't.

One thing i've noticed after upgrading a DFGT to a G27 is the mechanical speed of the wheel.

DFGT unlike other higher end wheels has a slower turning speed where the wheel itself can only move so fast on its own due to the motor, so when you need to quickly counter you have to force it with your hands.

The best example is going from lock to lock, turning the wheel through 900 degrees you need to go hand over hand with a DFGT, but compared to a G27 you can usually give the wheel a decent flick and let the FF carry the wheel through to opposite lock.

In this sense you need to adjust your style to accomodate.

Same here DFGT seemed impossible to turn fast enough to catch the slides, ds3 all the way!!

It can be done with a dfgt.. It just takes practice! You need to be 100% able to drive fast lap times and control a car before you start trying to drift.. For me at first drifting was imposible, i would spin every single time! But after 3 months, my laptimes are still dropping, and my drifting is geting better!
1 tip for you, try taking a rear wheel drive car on dirt and handle that! Its more forgiving the tarmac, and give you a sence of what to do!

I was just going to buy a DFGT. But now i dont anymore. Thanks :)

Nonononono :D Buy it no matter what. It really makes the game so much more fun. I loved GT5 with controller but now with the DFGT i simply cant stop playing. Its amazing. Yes, drifting and really aint that easy with wheel but buy the wheel no matter what! :) Just my advice ;)👍

How the hell do you guys drift with a DS3?? when your sliding, and your coming out of the drift, the game carries on turning into the drift, even when your turning in the opposite direction! this then spits you off the track! any wheel is better for drifting than the DS3 isent it?

If you cant drift with a ds3..you would have no hope with a wheel! Also, if you are having problems drifting with a dfgt.. You would still have them problems with a g25/g27.. The problem here is with the drivers, not the wheels! Just pratice people! It wont be easy, but you will get it!

I'll be giving that one a go.

I can drift with a dfgt no problem. and a g25. but it is impossible with a controller. Maybe i have the settings wrong, but for me, the game turns the car the opposite direction once the drift has finished, therefore spitting me into the wall. Does this not happen to anyone else??

this is when the tyres regain grip mid drift, like snap oversteer.. Happens more with softer tyres! Or mabe you need a bit more gas?
The hardest part from swiching from ds3 to wheel is that i know what i want the car to do, and with a ds3 i can make it happen.. But you have to teach your arms and feet to lnput the comarnds the your fingers and thumbs are use to making.. Its a big step making the switch! But a rewarding 1..

I'm great at drifting on a wheel, and with a controller on older GT's, its just on this one. What i mean is, when your counter steering the drift its fine. For example, if your drifting around a left corner, you're turning right while drifting. When your coming out of the drift, and i go to turn left to regain control, the game carries on turning right, as if its trying to help me. So, i end up snapping to the right and into the wall. I'm turning at the right time, i know how to drift. Do you know what i mean? It gets really frustrating.

Just drift with a ds3 and for people who can't do it, play shift 2 anddrift on that. Then go back to GT5. Omg throttle control is so much better.

same here. i cant drift at all with a ds3 but with a wheel i am much better. i think it is silly drifting with a DS3.
