Currently Im using DishNetwork and Embarq for my internet and tv needs....and was looking into changing everything over to Xfinity since they just got in my area with digital cable.
Right now Im paying for 10 mbps with Embarq but Xfinity is offering 15mbps..Is anyone using there service??....are you happy with the 15mbps??...Im not much of a guru with this but I understand that cable internet is quicker and steady than DSL...

Also they cap there internet to 250g a month..anyone have an issue with this??

The internet is fast, the digital cable is pretty suck compared to dish. It has silly:idea: nonsensical channel line-up, with HD scattered all over in 600s and 900s, not laid out well at all. Also you will have to use a stupid "digital converter" box so your digital tv can get their digital cable on tvs without the dual tuner hd dvr box. No they can't explain why I need it or why the thing can't pass through the local HD channels like the tv used to get before making this little box mandatory. Plus the little boxes have cheap jank remotes and only operate the tvs volume and power, and menu functions or source switches and you need your tv remote. You save more money with the bundle though.:indiff::indiff:

Funny this thread pops up after this past week that I had. I switched from DirecTV (because they raised my bill) to Comcast Xfinity last Saturday. When I did I also got the bundle with internet and had my AT&T internet disconnected. Comcast had something wrong with their region setup and I lost my favorite team's games and got an out of region version of the channel I watch the games on instead. Needless to say I had them for only 1 week and switched again to DishNetwork yesterday.

I totally recommend Dish Network to anyone interested. They got me a good bundle for a really good promotional price and even after the promotion is over (after 1 year) the price is still fairly decent ($20 per month less than Directv but Dishnet has better channels in the package I have and DVR in every room instead of just one). They tech even hooked me up with a free NetGear wireless router that is mine to keep since I needed one and didn't have one.

I did keep the Xfinity internet though since it was much faster than my AT&T.

The few months that I had Dish, I did have several occurences of losing signal, allthough I here its uncommon. That gives the dish a disadvantage to me, but it has so many other advantages, as long as it dosen't go out during your favorite teams game, lol.

Chris...can you see a difference in gaming with the Xfinity versus your AT&T??....Right now Im paying for 10mbps with Embarq but I think Im actualy getting around 7 at best...If Im correct dont the cable internet speed stays more consistant thatn with DSL??...I just got out of contract with Dish and looking to see what Xfinity can offer me....I like my Dish but because of trees I cant get ALL my HD channels

My parents have Comcast cable and internet. I don't watch cable tv so I cannot comment but the internet is pretty good. It is a 20mbps connection and I regularly get 10mbps wirelessly with a N network. I suspect most of my network failures are XBL based as I rarely have problems using my computer.

Luckily I don't have anything obstructing my signal. I'm loving Dish and don't plan on ever switching.

As for AT&T... It did drop signal from time to time. Mainly when I would try streaming live video feeds. The slower spped made it difficult. I had the fastest speed I could get. Iv'e heard they can get speeds just as fast as Xfinity but your home has to be equipped with fiberoptic phone lines to get that speed. The good thing is the modem basically has a built in wireless router and 3 extra ethernet ports which comes in handy for wirelessly connecting my laptop in addition to hard wiring my xbox and PS3. Xfinity's modem is pretty basic with no wireless capabilities and only 1 ethrrnet port. Luckily Dish network hooked me up
with the free router.

I suggest you call AT&T to see if you have your home equipped with fiberoptic cables. I believe they can test it over the phone. Then just call Dish and see what discounts your eligible for since your contract is up. If they say there isn't any then hang up and call back and ask for the cancelation dept, tell them you want to cancel because its too expensive and they will most likely offer you a discount to keep you. Directv said I wasnt eligible for discounts, then I called the next day to cancel and they offered to take off $15 per month.

Hate to hijack the thread.

But does the Xfinity use the same cables as the dish? I'm wanting to switch from Century Link(horrible customer service, I wouldn't recommend them), but I'm worried it would conflict with my dish.

^^^If your talking about the dish Coax cable and the Xfinity Coax cables then yes they are all RG6 cable (thick fat cable with screw ends).....

They are both the same type of lines but my dish is run on a totally seperate line.

Man what a nightmare just happened with these crooks over at Comcast. I returned my cable boxes today and I get a receipt. After I leave I look at the receipt. It shows a balance of..... $312.29!!! WHAT!?!?!? I call them up and say what 🤬 is this?? They say I ordered the NBA league pass and that my account hasn't been cancelled yet. I never ordered the NBA pass. Last time I spoke with them they kept trying to sell it to me and I repeatedly told them NO, I don't want it! That dumb lady stuck me with it anyway. :banghead: Now instead of them just removing it like most companies would over the phone, she tells me that she has to fill out a report for it to be investigated. Are you kidding me?? On top of that she tells me the that I ordered it on the day I called to cancel my service!! :odd: Never again will I ever go back to Comcast and as soon as my discount runs out for my internet I'm going back to AT&T. 🤬 Comcast!!

Rant over!! :)

Sorry but I needed to relieve some stress from this morning over this and also warn you of their TERRIBLE customer service.

I think you always have these terrible customer service issues with huge expanding companies that are not specifically focusing on a great customer service experience.

I actually order a UFC PPV back when Xfinity was just getting started in my area. The HD option was not available, and the plain digital PPV looks and sounds like crap, since Comcast receives it in HD and downgrades it to SD. I called Comcast and the lady told because of the upgrading to Xfinity some things were not available, like HD PPV....idiots. Now all is well, but they are very stupid when it comes to many things including customer service.👎
