Anyone else completely loathe Yas Marina?

It's probably my favourite track now. It was the first track I went to when I was trying out "hardcore" mode, with an Aston Martin DBS. I just lapped and lapped and really got into it. Since then it's one of my go-to tracks and I honestly love it.

I agree with the sentiment that the shorter layouts can be pretty decent with the right cars. The full track is very... tedious, though. There are a few spots that don't flow together very well, and the huge amount of runoff area makes people think brakes are completely optional in the worst places.

That said, there have been far more annoying circuits in Forza's past (yes you, Motegi), and Yas Marina is surrounded by gaudy Middle Eastern opulence so at least it's certainly not boring to look at.

Yas Marina and Paul Ricard are two tracks I cannot get used to.
There's something about all the additional 'alternate' routes, which leaves me uncertain about where I need to be going.
Those painted lines on the ground make them appear way too busy.

Yas Marina is terrible. It's much like Twin Ring Motegi in that someone just made a bunch of tight angles and connected them with straight lines. In the case of Yas Marina, it's basically a long straight that's boring and a tedious series of over nine-thousand sharp angles. There's nowhere that's enjoyable and the flow doesn't exist.

For newer players that don't know Motegi, it was a straight, then ninety right, ninety right, straight, ninety left, ninety left, straight, ninety right, short straight, ninety right, straight, ninety left, straight, ninety right, ninety right, straight, ninety right... I forget exactly. I'm trying to go by memory. That's more or less the "flow" of it.

You forgot a hairpin somewhere in there. :P

It's not quite that bad...

...but there's definitely way too many straight lines and the corners never seemed to present many good passing opportunities, so each lap turned into a series of drag races and aggressive blocking to compromise anyone who had better top-end speed.

Motegi always felt like a bad knockoff of Road America. I'm not exactly wishing for it's return, but at the same time I wouldn't complain if they did bring it back.

Plus it had the benefit of including the oval, but who knows if that would still be featured considering it's currently used as a parking lot.

For me a circuit should have a character and a certain flow to it ....
Watkins glen i really love, Silverstone, Spa, monza are all classics.

Fuji was a circuit i used to love in the GT series and wish was in FM

Many modern Tilke circuits just have crap run off and no soul

I make sure to have a full racing line when using VIR. I don’t mind it (much) with a slow car. The Renault F1 RS17 race was better than I expected. I much prefer Yas Marina though.

Any hate I have for the tracks of Tilke is mostly directed towards Circuit Of The Americas.

I absolutely hated COTA in FM6 and I'm still not a fan of it in FM7, but according to the leaderboards I'm surprisingly the fastest man in the world with the Radical RXC around there... Which really surprises me because I'm usually not very fast around tracks I don't like, like Yas Marina or Laguna Seca, for instance.

I guess every other Radical driver is even less of a fan of the track. F1 regs or not the angles of the turns seem to have been scientifically designed to cause maximum hair-pulling frustration.

I hate any and every track that have any association to Tilke, both in simulation and in real life. They are fine for rivals (or hotlapping), but pain in the butt for racing. There are challenging one-line corner combinations, but for overtaking you're depending too much on drafting on long straights and outbraking at the end of the straight.

VIR can be challenging and frustrating in some cars, but once you really nail it, it is very rewarding.

There are some Tilke circuits I like. Bahrain and Istanbul are fun. COTA is starting to grow on me after initially not liking it, though I still hate the stadium section. Valencia had a nice flow for a street circuit. Most everything else he's designed is garbage, though, including Yas Marina. He seems to have an obsession with long straights connected by oblique angles and 90 degree turns everywhere else with one high speed multi-apex turn that seems to be his signature.
