I am looking to buy a wheel, just not sure what direction to go. Mainly going to be playing GT5p so if someone could give me a good insight I would greatly apprecite it. I saw CDC's review but didn't give me good and bad review. Can someone shed some light?

Not on Gt5P. But for my PC sims I surely preferr the Fanatec wheel over the G25 overall :)

Main reasons, better grip, larger wheel, more solid shifter. Smoother and stronger force feedback and more realistic wheel centering and resistance. More buttons on wheel is good especially for arcade racing games. Racing sims I don´t need more then two plus paddles since I use TrackIR to look around so there it´s a non issue for me :)

As for pedals well G25 pedals are better built though I do like the feel a bit better on the fanatec pedals but pedals hardly matter much in GT5P the little I have run it...

I must say I am not impressed by the feel and force feedback in GT5P but have nothing to compare it to there since I sold my G25 prior to getting my PS 3.

Flappy Paddles, the paddles-shifters that allow you to shift without taking your hands of the wheel.

aah ok well the 911 is more buttons then paddles... rubberized and of much higher quality than the DFPs. I don´t have trouble reaching them, my long fingers rest on them but I wonder if you have really small hands you may have to reach for them a bit since the wheel is larger then the G25 and has a thicker grip. I liked the G25 paddles a bit more mainly for the racing look but well they do the job and they do feel solid apart from my DFP that started double shifting in no time. G25s was aluminium so you could bend them but easy to bend back :)

But well I am paddle biased so if I have to choose I go with G25s paddles but really it doesn´t matter I use Sequential or the H-shifter at every opportunity. But some cars are just to fast so you have to use these on/off switches :)

I have both, yes.. and my summary would be very simple.

-the new retail version of fanatec porsche 911 turbo wheel is good for grip racing stock cars..force feedback, steering grip and pedals stiffness are spot on for heel & toe. In this respect the wheel is better than G25.

-G25 is at its best and great for drifting or recovering massive oversteer. The wheel precision and accuracy is much better. There is less resistance in G25 but then you get less force feedback because of its smaller motors. Because of this, you can correct the steering very smoothly in any situation where you really can't do it quickly enough with porsche turbo wheel. In this respect, G25 is much better than PTW.

So depend on what you are looking for, you might end up buying both like myself...lol..:ill:

*anyway, out of topic- anybody know how to reduce resistance in porsche wheel? I wonder whether adding more grease to the gears would reduce it slightly? Would appreciate if there is a link on how to disassemble this wheel..looks like it doesn't use normal screw...

I tried to disassemble the beta wheel once but couldn´t get to the middle screw :).

I doubt you could do much to reduce the resistance. That is one thing I like about it even cars with power steering have some feel to the wheel but as you say it turns a bit slower then the G25 due to that :)

the Frex GP wheel seem just crazy good for drifting though that has speed and strong force feedback :D

need to find some little bit and somehow manage to untighten it. It helps if you have really small hands I guess which I haven´t. I wonder how the actually got it tightened in the first place lol

Little hint: Take off the Porsche badge and you will find 3 screws to take off the wheel rim.

use a very small flat screwdriver or knive to do this

I just read in another thread that you can use the Fanatec pedals with the G25.

Did anyone try this?

I had g25 before turbo s and i am happy with it. I use g25 pedals but they felt pretty silly after standard porsche pedals as i had got used to them. Now G25 pedals feel good i have not switched back. However longer travel on porche pedals allow more accurate accerator usage. Overal they feel ok and would not buy CSPs i had no got g25 pedals.

Porsche turbo S wheels to me better even for drifting as there is drift mode options(then it rotates much faster than g25) and you can even change steering lock and FFB while driving. Also ABS vibration gives info about brakes locking if you set it up right.

G27 vs Turbo S is closer to call but when compared to g25 i would pick turbo s every time :)
