Some friends and i went to this house and i saw this cool looking car. It kind of had somewhat of a corvette body style but the front was different and it had this big super charger in it. Can someone get some info about this car? I tried looking on the web for some but had no luck.

Of course. I won't get the details right, but Avanti was a spin-off of Studebaker when it collapsed, right? It hired some sort of expensive designers to design what I think is a great-looking car which they produced in small quantites for about twenty years. I once read a huge thing on Avanti but I can't remember where. Anyway, I don't think Avanti exists anymore, but it may still be producing that car. Some other people probably know more, but that's what I knew.

It does exists. It still had the paper plates on it. It said the vin# then the car make: Avanti and the module: Convertible and year: 2002. This car was bran spanking new.

No... I cant find anything on the web about it. It had a huge super charger in it though.... and it was yellow. Very nice. The guy said it was from France but too me that car looked a little too big to be an import. He didnt say much about it after that. He didnt know the HP on that car or anything else. And he didnt want to tell me how much he spent onit.

Designed by Raymond Loewry (who also designed the coke bottle and lucky strike cigerette packet) for Studebaker. Don't know if they are still built but last I heard (late 90's) they were.

The car looks like that but Newer and slicker looking. Plus its said this a 2002 model. Any more info on this you guys?? I need to know cause its bothering me soo much I just need to know.

Yeah it is to me, too.

The images that Mr Pushrod posted are what I think of the Avanti; I haven't seen one for a year or so, though.

You've GOT to go back to that house and snap a picture!

Look like crap now, but in the day, they were way ahead of their time. Like Porsche with the 956 and soon 911 platform, way ahead of their time and are still timeless to this day.
It all depends on your age as how you look at it.
That pic of the new vette looks like bad photoshop. It Ugly.
If thats the new vette, ewwwww.

Mazda had Amati...it was thier lugery car line, and never came to be....

That's totally different though...but I do know what Avantis look like...I think they are ugly...

[Mr.T voice] i pity da fool who would turn his C5 into a bad Stingray Split Window conversion... [/Mr.T voice]

i've heard of Avanti before, but i just can't find infos...

basically, they're rebodied Studebakers, or something like that...

heh... i just don't like bodykits... :D

it's just looking so "cheesy" that i can't seem to imagine someone putting that on a Vette...

reminds me of the yo-boys style bodykits, that hinder the looks of the car instead of improving it...

This Avanti is based on the Corvette (C5) with modifications and bolt-ons.

The two Avanti's (one is the Studebaker and one is the "C5"):

I think the guy in the middle is the owner of the Avanti Motors.

If you don't see any images, go to www.avantimotors.com to see the new Avanti that you are talking about.

I have no comment on that, I saw it personally at the LA autoshow, its more like of a collector car than a sport/everyday car like the C5 conv.

:drool: :D With all the retro-mobiles it was only a matter of time til the '63 Vette' reared its incredibly beautiful head. It's hard to believe that back in 63 they actually made a kit to remove the divider in the rear window!! What a gorgeous resurection. The tail-lights and side panels with venting are absolutely beautiful. Anyone got a spare 100g's? Please :( :D
