On my website, I've been trying to classify all of game's cars. Even if they're created by Polyphony, I'd like to place them somewhere, whether it be as specific as 'Group A - DTM' or as broad as 'Cup Cars'. The link is to the full organized list, and the cars below are the ones I need help with (if they fit into an existing category or if I need to create a new one). Thanks for any help!

http://www.freewebs.com/guidetheftauto/granturismo4.htm

-Audi Auto Union V16 Type C Streamline '37
-Chaparral 2D Race Car '67
-Chevrolet Corvette Z06 (C2) Race Car '63
-Honda Gathers Drider Civic Race Car '98
-Honda Integra Type R Touring Car '02
-Mazda Mazda6 Touring Car '02
-Mitsubishi FTO Super Touring Car '97
-Nissan Falken*GT-R Race Car '04
-Renault Clio Sport Trophy V6 24V Race Car '00
-Subaru Impreza Super Touring Car '01
-Toyota ALTEZZA Touring Car '01

*EDIT* - and these two could use more exact classification:

-Mitsubishi CZ-3 Tarmac Rally Car '02
-Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution Super Rally Car '02

Well, if it ain't CyborgMantis.

Auto Union can go into a one-off or top-speed class of sorts, streamliners do top speed and nothing else.

Also, the Evo SRC could go with the rest of the WRC cars (group A, a la Focii, Escort, Imprezas, etc) as, IIRC, it has no power, weight, or downforce advantage.

the Auto Union would probably be best classed with things like Jet Powered salt flat racers and the like, I bet.

if there's anything else puzzling, only Yamauchi-San probably knows where their classed, or their japanese fans.

Hey, Cyborg! What's happening?

I don't know what their official classification was in their day, but personally I would classify the Chaparral 2D and the Chevy Z06 race cars as GT2 (in the same class with cars like the 350Z Concept LM and the NSX-R Prototype LM). I have no idea where the Falken*GT-R falls in, though. It's a bit heavy, which leads me to think it may actually be an unmarked D1GP car, or possibly in the same league with the '93 Calsonic Skyline.

the falken gt-r is a winner of the endurance race 24h nürnburgring. you can make the gathers drivers civic and the falken gt-r to endurance race cars

the BMW m3 gtr is an alms race car not an etcc race car. but the Honda Integra Type R Touring Car '02 is an btcc/ etcc race car!!

The Chaparral 2D should go into sports cars (same as the Ford GT 40). At the time I believe it raced as a Group 6 (the roofed, endurance companions to Group 7). It raced at Le Mans and won the Nurburgring 1000KM driven by Phil Hill and (I believe) Jo Bonnier.
