I'm wondering if any of you Gt drivers are planning to continue playing through GT MODE in GT4 after you've gotten GT5 (or if you've already gotten it).
I know for some, like me, they will want to take a look back to compare the two games every once in a while; but how about if you haven't finished GT4, or not even nearly? Will you go back to finish it or do you doubt it?
I've got a big LCD tv and therefore the graphics of GT4 look awful (actually the resolution) and I know that once I get my GT5 copy I probably won't return to finish GT4 anytime soon.

What do you guys think? :dopey:

I'm still doing both. I'll be doing GT4 probably thru next year, but I also can't ignore GT5. Too much new stuff to mess around with. :)

So mafs, hows the suspension tuning aspect of GT5? If it's not improved by the new physics engine, I'll probably save myself $350 bucks and stick with the PS2 and GT4. 👎

Just trying to get multiple opinions before shelling out that kind of moolah.

I don't own the game, yet (getting it this Christmas), but so far I've heard that the tuning actually does something, unlike in GT4. The suspension changes are visible and act the way they should in real life. Go for it. 👍

If you're that concerned with money, I'd say you shouldn't get it. So many people are disappointed with GT5 for a variety of reasons, I'd hate to see you be one of them.

Personally, I'm having a blast with 5, though. There's a few things I'm upset about, but all the main things I wanted to see (more oversteer, weather, etc.) are all there. There's a lot of stuff I didn't expect, too, like you can turn ABS brakes OFF and get actual brake lock-up. :dopey: The cars I've tried so far ('08 Fiat 500, '91 Lancia Delta, '07 Toyota Vitz) are actually raceable on N tires, too, without hoards of understeer at every turn. That isn't to say there isn't any understeer in GT5, certainly there is, but it's generally balanced with other traits.

I've just barely scratched the surface with GT5 tuning. I always spend a lot of time doing slower, beginner-level races in the beginning of any racing game, just because I like slower cars and I want to be GOOD at the game as it picks up. So I can't provide you with this long list of tuning options GT5 has. All I'm saying is it definitely seems like there's more to tune, if that makes any sense. Parameters are greater for oversteer, like I said several times, now. That'll keep me busy with tuning for years. :)

I am going to continue playing GT4 in the hopes of completing it 100%. The game still looks good and plays great, especially for it's age.

Since I'm not going to get a PS3 and the GT5 for at least another 1.5 years due to some unavoided reason, I will continue my journey with GT4 and with hope I can finish it before its time for me to get the GT5 ;)

I agree with Tranejam, after a successful 5 years of GT4 and me only playing it for 3 years, it still is a great game, looks great and it also plays great! The best Gran Turismo that has landed on my hands (Obviously GT5 is a whole lot better) and possibly the best game in PS2 in my opinion...

I've been at it for 6 yrs now, and have no plans of giving it up any time soon. Even though I've bought GT5 without a PS3 player ... hehe ... lol ...

I guess I've become fond of the flexibillity in GT4 ...

I love you GT4 =)

Well I never got to try GT5 yet or GT5P. So Im not sure what I said will be true.
But right now too busy configuring the settings on my JZA80 to perfection in drifting.

I'm not gonna wave bye bye to GT4 yet. Them damn cones are still driving me nuts. Them and mission 34. Not gonna quit till i get them done. Having said that, GT3 still has appeal to me. Its nice to compare. But imm having a blast with 5. Shame the forum isnt as organised as this one. Or the NEW members dont actually read the stuff here.

My PS2 has died a couple of months ago and with that I stopped playing GT4. Since now I already have a PS3, GT5 and a HDTV to play with I'm not gonna look back at GT4 much either... :guilty: But the best GT game for me has got to be GT2. I think I would still play it on my PSP on holidays as well as my GT PSP. :P

When and if my PS2 goes belly up, I'll definitely be looking for a new one.

I even had a spare DFP but that's been pressed into service on the PS3. GT5 is nice and all, but when I want something with a little more breadth to it I fire up GT4 again.

As long as it relies on downloadable patches and content for GT5, I will not be able to get it anytime soon due to broadband not being available here. It should of been finished from the start. I will likely wait till there is a platinum version or a GT6 with all the improvements and then some. Which all means more GT4 for me.

I'm not, yet. Don't play it much anymore though.

Still haven't decided if I want to upgrade to a PS3 and GT5 yet, or switch over to Forza and Xbox. (Forza 4 is coming out in a year or so.)

I will most definitely not be giving up GT4 anytime soon. Even if I do upgrade, I am not sure if I want to get an XBOX 360 or a PS3 right now. There are game on both consoles that I like and make it difficult to make the decision.

I still got 2 golds to get and that mission 34. Not gonna stop on GT4 till that happens.
But GT5 is enjoyable. However the forum is full of Minolta or X1 fans. Wanna use them for everything. So Im getting pretty tired of pointing out that all the info they need is right here in these forums.
Gt4 has not passed its sell by date as far as im concerned. The main menu is a whole lot better laid out, and the levelling system on GT5 is straight out of Enthusia. So i'm chopping and changing, between the two. Gt4 is still a great game. Gt5 brings a bit more variation, but to be honest, i think i prefer 4.

I remember when I first got a ps2, it was to play GT4. I got the big one without the external power supply and I bought it used (I should've known better). My 1 and only game was GT4, but that was all I needed. I grew up playing GT games and always loved motorsports in general. Anyways, I popped the game in and played away to my hearts content, well at least for an hour before the little white needle that spins on the load screens turned red and ceased to work anymore. I was devastated by this and immediately went and bought a brand new ps2 slim. I was delighted to see that it worked fine without a hitch. That was about 4 or 5 years ago and I've been playing that disc on that ps2 and still loving every minute of it. There are some things I don't love, like the stupid AI, but overall there has never been another racing game like it. Well perhaps GT5 will eclipse it, but I've yet to play it enough to form a proper opinion on that subject. Gran Turismo 4 will always hold a sacred place in my heart.

I too am going to continue with GT4. I am currently 106,xxx A-spec points into the hunt for max, and it is the only game I play. Currently working on the Enduro at Suzuka for 200 in the GSX.

I think that I will be returning more and more to GT4. GT5 could have been so much better. And its my hope, that in time, GT5 will return to GT4 structure. If 4 had weather and night cycles, I think ( just my opinion ) it would have been just about perfect. Now people will say, aww the graphics suck, or the AI suck, but the amount of programing that went into it, and the allowance for the multitude of actions that have to happen, well, look at humans, they are not perfect. They do stupid things at times, and we complain about the AI??? Hmm, nah, I will take it for what it is, A GAME. And I love it.

My PS3 just broke, so as i say goodbye to GT5, luckily a friend has lent me his PS2. I have just loaded up the old GT4 save today. 175 cars and 1.2million at my disposal. I'm also 49 days from day 1700 (week 200) which means a black Group C to choose from.

Can anyone remember how much they are? And which i should go for?

On topic, i'm missing GT5 massively. I was/am very addicted to it, but i can't stretch to a repair at the moment. I had just built and tuned an orange R32 skyline, specifically for the Nurb ring. Never got to take her round it :(

Fortunately i'll be able to get a repair done in a couple of weeks. It's lucky really because i have a lot of Uni work to get done. GT4 looks terrible, but it definitely fills a gap. It also brings back a very nostalgic warmth, and memories, as i play. Remembering the old tricks, and the old feel of the cars. It's fun to go straight from GT5 to GT4 and see how far it has come. Everyone who bitches about the new game should be forced to do it.
