This is a bit of a long shot but do Any GTP'ers play any Pool/Billiards sims?

I have been playing Virtual Pool 4 on Steam the last month or so and as a big Pool/Snooker fan I have been loving the super realistic physics. Way better than what I was playing before in Pure Pool and Cue Club.

I just bought the full version of Shooters Pool as well which is basically an even more realistic and hardcore experience than VP4. With the added bonus of licensed brands such as Predator, Rasson, Joy, Diamond, OB and even so much detail to include the real cloths like Strachan and Iwan Simonis.

Here is my first little knock about in the practice mode.

Looks fairly good.

I used to play some compture pool games like 10 plus years ago. Even took part in online pool leagues with weekly tournaments etc. Used to shoot in real life on a weekly league for awhile. Along with shooting in weekly tournaments once in awhile. That was until my favorite bar closed down. There are a few others but not like my favorite. These days do not shoot much.

Mainly just try and enjoy some sim racing a few hours a week if possible or American Truck Simulator. So much detail in ATS, and nice just to sim drive on the open road to music.

Yeah, Similar to you playing ATS I like to look at them as more of a chill experience and don't take them too seriously. I will go online after I get a bit more practice in but for now i'm happy just learning the game and getting better. (I seem to have a tendency to overcut shots a bit as you can see towards the end)

Virtual Pool 4 is a bit more accessible and has a single player career mode that helps its case. When seeing Shooters Pool for the first time though I knew I had to pick it up and have a go 😊

Yes it is always good to have some good quality games to just relax to.

I have also enjoyed a lot of pure simulation games in the past...like sim city, roller coaster tycoon, transport tycoon. Except I probably got too hooked on those, but at same time probably saved me a lot of money compared to other more expensive hobbies or actovities. I know there are good sims now, but would just spending to much time.

I remember playing a lot of Yahoo! Pool in middle school as I was lucky enough to have my homeroom one year be the computer room. Pretty much all we ever did was play virtual pool and watch Homestar Runner (damn I feel old).

I don't think I would get my money's worth buying VP4 at full price, but it's on my Steam wishlist and if it goes on sale I might pick it up.

Yeah I originally got VP4 on sale originally, I was sceptical also paying full price but I saw that it was supposed to be a lot more realistic than most of other available Pool games out at the time so picked it up. Also VP has been going for ages, I remember seeing Virtual Pool 2 being advertised at the big TV games back when I was a kid. VP4 came out in about 2013 also so I'm hoping with the competition of Shooters Pool, It will make it an even better product if they do end up making a new game.

I played some Yahoo pool way back when too, That was a great timekiller 👍

I do occasionally play pool hall champions on PS4. In carreer mode though, I find the A.I. at the upper tiers to be almost impossible to beat.
Meaning they make any shot, unless almost 100 percent snookered. Have never played anyone online. I currently do not have PSN network account. I am going to do my best to wait until summer 2022 to even consider getting GT7, under the rare chance that it is released in March.
I do feel that my PS4 could crap out before then though.
