Still playing it, although I got the game literally when Shift 2 was already released. Never got to finish Shift 1. I still think Shift 1 is awesome cause I still customize cars like crazy regularly.

I still play Shift 1 & 2
They are my favorite racing games, the cars tracks tuning career and quick mode as a lot of replay values plus lets no forget the action great stuff.

Happy Racing

I dip into Shift 1 occasionally, it's easily my favourite of the racing games that occupy the space between GT/Forza and Ridge Racer-style arcade games. Shift 2 was ok but I think I preferred Shift 1 as it felt less floaty.

Just upgraded my pc for the price i'd have to pay for a compatible ps4 wheel ( own G27 ) in time for project cars. First thing i did was install shift 1. I was blown away all over again playing at 1080p 60fps its a joy compared to ps3 version!!! I refer to project pars as "Basically Shift 3".

It's been a while since I played it.
Loaded it today, {PC} and I can't get my wheel to work.
Does it not support Fanatec ?

I have only recently started playing SHift 2 having picked it up at a snip of a price before Christmas. I absolutely love it (Xbox 360 version) and will spend plenty of time in the cockpit with it until I can get myself upgraded to the One (or PC).

Is Shift 1 still worth picking up for someone like me who has just got 2?

definitely. When you get the Vaughn Gitten Jr drift Mustang and race it around Road America with 15 other AI cars for 15-20 laps, you don't have time to relax.

I got a Platinum trophy for Shift 1 back in the day and played Shift 2 to death on my PS3, sold 1 and I still play 2 from time to time but I have this temptation to play them again but this time on my 360. Something tells me that they're much more enjoyable on the green side.

They are better on 360 on the PS3 there is a nasty steering bug, on the puter version they have patch for it.

Me taking the lead in the final race in Shift 1.

I got Shift 1/2 together. I actually prefer Shift 2, but 1 is still really great. I love the vehicle choices on the game. Overall, both Shift games exceeded my expectations
Indeed, they're both very good games. Part 2 would have gone into the 'great' category imo, if it hadn't
been for the frankly, just plain strange handling

The handling was just so, so bad. I just can't imagine how it wasn't picked by someone before release

I tried shift 2 today, what a terrible game. Typical NFS by the way. Not a game made for people who like realistic driving. Its utterly awful. And of course they can't stop putting in fake movie/cynematics effects and super hot grid girls. I truly hate those kind of developers and their cheap polytics.

Grid girls are part of racing man.

Grid girls are part of racing man.
What i mean is that grid girls are a very secondary thing in a racing game compared to the actual physics and gameplay, and thats the thing this game lacks. Older NFS were also very arcade but al least had decent gameplay and control, and were a bit fun in their own way. This one has nothing

Well it only has the most complete customization and tuning of any console racer, the best track roster ever in a console game. Before GAS, it had the best damage and AI of any console game making the racing experience feel lightyears ahead of GT and FM.

I played until the last day I had my PS3. I liked the car selection, the sense of speed, the livery customization (despite the pain for not having a "mirror" option to customize both sides of the car), and the tracks.

If I had my PS3, I'd be playing it along GAS and GT6.

I remember Shift... it was a long time ago and I enjoyed the heck out of that game until I "finished" it. I still had plenty of stars left to earn and everything. While I think Shift 2 tries to do every last thing better than its predecessor (and succeeds in large parts), I don't remember the original handling so awkwardly (though I was a controller player at the time, and while it felt different playing Shift 2 for the first time on DS3, I didn't even catch just how slippery it was until after I'd gotten some wheel experience on several games and sims). Unfortunately, I lent out my copy of Shift 1 to a good buddy, and I don't even know if he still has it. I'd like to run it again just to feel it out on a wheel.

I do not have shift 1 anymore, I'll have to pick it back up.
Also, I do have Shift 2 if any of you fellas are interested in playing... I'd be more than happy to join you in either game.

Sorry for long gap since last reply, busy times recently... I am really loving the game and a few guys I race with in F1 2014 and Grid Autosport are running a mini league. We race alternate Saturdays at around 9pm. It's over on another well known racing site so not sure if I can post the link here or not?

We ran have so far run at Willow Springs, Laguna Seca (one of my favourite tracks ever...) and London Whitehall Drive. Several of us record our races so there are videos of them available to watch and get an idea of how we race.

Thats on Shift 2 btw.

I still play, the steam version mainly for single player. I am running a long mod list mainly to clean up the game (remove all the ads and flair) and then careermod for a better single player experience (handling/physics seem to be much better and steering feels right and you can tell what the car is doing).

I have a few videos with the mods applied. I posted it in another thread but check it out.

This one is a complete cleaning of the game, the other videos I wasn't done cleaning up the tracks.
