Hi guys.
GT5 has an option to export the replay file to a Save Data Utility (PS3TM) file, and not an MP4. Is there anyway to convert these files into one .MP4 file so I can watch the replay on my computer? It is copyable, I transferred it to a USB. The file looks like this:.....Thanks.

I recently decided to make a video and ended up doing it with my phone camera and it looks like crap, so I did some investigating and have some info for you.
You can save and export the replay data, but the data only contains basically just the car and your interactions with the scenery like skid marks on the road, walls etc. The track and environment is not part of the data and therefore you can't the saved data and use it anywhere but on another PS3 with GT5 installed.
There are a couple of ways to get the replay onto your pc for editing, posting to youtube etc. One way is to PVR/DVR the image with something similar to this
Bell Canada PVR
In Canada a new PVR is about $200 and records in 1080p HD. From the PVR/DVR which captures the full image, you can download to your PC and edit from there. However, you only capture the replay as it is displayed, meaning whatever view you play is what's captured, you can't change views or anything else once it gets to the PVR. So you basically select the views and parts of the replay you want, play them back, and record them as is.
Another way is through a capture card in your PC or an external, stand alone capture device. Roxio makes inexpensive capture devices designed to be used with XBox and PS3 and you will find them on
Roxio's Website. They have them in HD and 480P I believe. In Canada they are $99 and $59 respectively, quite a bit cheaper than the American prices I found online. There are others you have to do some searching.
There are dozens of different PC Capture Cards, some of which will work with the PS3 and some may not, you'll have to research it. 480P will be cheapest, HD more money. One advantage they may possess is they are more universal, and can often be used with camcorders, cameras, tv signals etc. For these check retailers or go directly to companies like AverMedia, Elgato and Hauppauge who all make these types of devices, some designed specifically with games in mind. Expect to pay well over $100 for a good HD device, well under $100 for 480p.
I bought the Roxio HD device a couple of days ago but haven't had the time to do anything with it. You can check out the crap quality of my inaugural DeadNutsEven Racing video below. Notice the two photos at the front which are good quality downloads from the net, and the rest is GT5 footage from my phone, which is 720p, but a lot gets lost in the translation. And yes, the
Three Stooges are in my video!!!
When I get a replacement done, I'll also post it here (assuming I remember) so you can see the difference, if any...lol.
